Evotech Crash Bungs - OCD Paranoia

Post by Hygerof » Tue May 29, 2018 9:46 pm

Evening all,

So I am new to the KTM world having just made an emotional purchase of a new SD R. Absolutely love it and going to taking it to France next month now its run in for some mountain passes. However, KTM are being a pain in the backside threatening warranty invalidation by using non-KTM crash-bungs - even though they don't make them.

I brought myself a set of Evotech crash-bungs but yet to fit them as I am trying to confirm the torque settings on the three bolts on each side. Has anyone fitted them and do they know what torque setting they are. I do not want them too loose as as they are frame to engine I do not want to over tighten them....

Yes, I could probably just make them tight....but want to do the job right.

Cheers
Chris

yeah, the unfortunate thing is (and this is why I posted) the instructions say 'Caution Manufacturer's Specification Nm' but no details

KTM would not even confirm with me as they are 'different bolts'

Very frustrating.....

From the SD 1290 GT 2017 workshop manual:

M10 with 45Nm.
Only the one (each side) which goes through the frame needs Loctite243.

Now that I think about it the owners manual has the info as well. I have a digital copy of it if anyone wants a copy.
