Oil temperature

Post by Alchemistioan » Fri May 25, 2018 7:09 am

What's the oil temperature you guys see you on your 1290 when it's completely warmed up and running on highway? I recently started noticing that my oil temps were at 130F, used to be like 150ish if I remember correctly. Today was a 80F day and the oil temps just stayed at 130. Maximum was 146 in like 20 minutes of really slow riding. Is it supposed to run that cold?Image

after warming up, mine runs @ 180F +. I'm not sure if 20 minutes is enough to really warm it up fully, especially if it started from "overnight" cold. Try working it a little harder and see if it warms up more. Hopefully you don't have a faulty sensor or similar...

My 2015 usually runs around 172 or so. 20 min warm up? I let mine get to about 110 or slightly more and I am headed out. Also I have a evotech rad guard mounted.

Oil temperature

In addition to controlling oil temperature, the vernatherm also acts as a relief valve to prevent rupturing your oil cooler from excess pressure. Personally, I would not remove it.
