Changed my engine oil.
I`ve not used the bike since November.
Drained the oil with a cold engine, changed the filter. Filled it with Motorex and took it for a 25min run. Checked it and the sight glass has white froth. Removed the cap and there was some condensation on the inside of the cap along with a very slight drop of froth.
I assuming because I did`nt warm the engine before changing the oil this has caused the issue ???
Question. Will i need to change the oil or will a long blast get rid of the condensation ?
Or any other tips ?
I`ve checked the water level in the overflow tank and its fine.
Thanks.

Re: Oil Change
Just curious why you drained the oil while the engine was cold? I always take it for a ride or at least idle long enough for the engine to get to temp. As for the white froth, never seen that but again, I don't oil change on a cold motor.

Re: Oil Change
I changed oil on a cold motor after a tip on this site from JOE BIKER.
Op said it dropped all oil and any contaminents to the bottom and drained all oil leaving no old oil in the engine.
Thought I would give it a try.

Re: Oil Change
A good long ride to get the engine properly hot for a period of time should get rid of any condensation in the crank case and any white emulsion (froth). Then you should be ok.

Re: Oil Change
I thought so. Just needed re-assured.
I'll give it a try tomorrow. It's to be cold up here but dry.
Cheers.

Re: Oil Change
Took the bike for 120 mile blast this afternoon and cleared the emulsion in the oil. First real ride of the year but still salt on the roads.
It was cold but dry and sunny
Just reminded me why I love my Superduke 1290.
Roll on the Spring here in good old Blighty.

Re: Oil Change
Yeah roll on spring and salt free roads, my bike has been tucked up in the garage since end of October when the first grit went down, she is licked clean and staying that way lol, spent far too much on her to be ruined by bloody salt corrosion

Re: Oil Change
Spent this morning giving it a good clean to get rid of yesterdays salt.
Gave it it's usual spray with Muc Off Protectant. It makes it easier to clean the next time.
Don't use it on the paintwork, a good polish does that.
Mine is staying in the garage until the end of March when its booked in for an MOT and an ECU reflash.
C'mon Spring.
