What mpg

Post by Spiff » Fri Aug 25, 2017 8:56 am

My bike is bone stock, and i am getting 45mpg on my commute. All city stop and go with regular pulls to 70, 90, 100 etc. Not beating it, but definitely not pyssy footin. If I am out beating on it I am still over 40, though I need to do a good test on Monday.

So my question: what kind if milage is everyone getting/type of riding/with what mods?

2015. Akrapovic full system and remap. Getting 38 - 41 mixed city and a little highway. A long highway ride I'm sure I'd be 42+ mpg. And I'm no lightweight. Very impressive for this kind of power in a V twin.

keep in mind, that without the speedo correction rings, that mileage is off by what, 10-12% or so?

Negative. Speed is off. Mileage is within 2%.

I tend to average around 38mpg. I seldom ride on freeways, and I stay out of urban areas, so 90% of my riding is in mountain twisties.

A forrest Ranger ran radar for me. It appears to be off 10% until 50mph then 5mph off from there. He said that makes sense, law states that the speedo can't be more then 5mph off.

Stock apart from Wings can.

Best to date is 5.1ltr/100km. That was 370km and a 18.9ltr refill. Conversion to US mileage is 46.1mpg

Tried the Akra map briefly, but the only great change was the rise in fuel consumption, so I changed back to stock.

Mine has the full Akra system on and does 37 to 44 playing/commuting and 50 long distance touring. Did get 56mpg using 98 oct fuel touring once because there was only 95 E10 available but not tried any high octaine stuff since.

But that is UK gallons, which is 20% bigger then US gallons.

My reason for interest in all this is to figure out what mods are worth it vs consumption. Is the juice worth the squeeze? I really want to go all out (saving money as we speak), but the logical part of me says "when was the last time you were looking for more power"?
