Can you use a map with ignition on it if you don't have a ignition module

Can you use a map with ignition on it without having a ignition module?

Yes, the ignition table just gets ignored.

I have a 2016 1290 r with stage 5 rottweiler performance twin 80 80 Stacks in Utah at about 4500 elevation, I have SC project exhaust and de cat, I'm thinking map number 13, any thoughts with the forum?

Can anyone advise from experience what affect carbon rims will have when dyno tuning?
I assume the bike will have more hp than a bike with the heavier stock rims due to less revolving weight.
But am I correct in thinking the AFR will not be changed in anyway significant?

Hi Kev .... thanks for the all valuable information on this forum from day 1 start....
Im from Singapore and I initially had a 2014 which gave me remarkable results with the full power mods ,soon after, in 2015june, I got into a bad crash and tottalled it .
10 months later insurance gave me a 2016SE so I started the process all over but it was a very interesting result
I had the Rotty intake with the 100/80 stacks ,Akra evo and 16T fronts on a Akra map .... I got 158hp on baseline .(pls note i have fully understand its the deltas that matter)Im running 98 octane shell tuned at sea level.
After which I added the ignition module and went double 80mm stacks and just to start it off I loaded map #9 from fraggy to tie me over......now this is when it gets interesting.
On the base run I got 151hp on the fresh set up with map #9 ,so I cleaned the map out and started from scratch and rebuilt a map to get 165hp... it was a 146hp from bone stock... the interesting bit is the torque curve feels totally different from the 14 which leads me to believe that the SEs are running an much refined engine.......its only my take.
Ill send you the map next week mate .....Once again thank you

Slaine

Something peculiar with that map is there is enormous torque right off idle- which I have never experienced before, not stock or other maps. It just rips so hard off idle now, I love it!

With your map it's probably as smooth as it's ever been, but I'd wager it can be even smoother with some balancing of the throttle body. Or I could be wrong and this is as smooth as it gets for a raging 1.3 liter v-twin. Still working up the courage to sync the TB myself.

Oo, #17 is my exact setup, except I have 1 2016. What kind of fuel in Singapore?

Gonna give it a try. I've been tweaking #6 up until now.

The map will work well as it was built for our fuels.

Just looking at the map, it seems to have a lot less fuel. Just loaded it to my PCV in map pos. 2 and about to go do a ride comparing back to back. One thing I noticed though, the map notes do not say Evo map loaded from KTM on it, like the post here does.

Mate i assure u its a base evo map.its on 98 shell fuel at sea level .. . What may confuse u is the base humidity
..... of which as kevs explailned with the us maps u may need to compensate......

Ah, I see your post now.

Was definitely running leaner than the AF tables for me, especially in the rear cylinder. I grabbed a quick log, but I'll have to look at it tomorrow.

So does that map have ignition tables? I don't have an ignition module.

I'm in Miami, so high humidity and sea level, but maybe not as high as Singapore. And I think US shell 93, what I run, is pretty much identical to Shell 98 RON.

Of course every bike is different, and mine is a 2016. But it was certainly a closer starting point than #6 was.

sorry i forgot to mention map16 is a 2016SE and has ignition tables ,but that will be ignored if you dont have a module Map17 doesnt but thats was a done on a first gen 2014R.... and yes i also noticed nearly all the 2016 bikes Ive seen so far have been running lean at the rear cylinder, give it a try and drop in a comment....have fun ...Cheers

I'm picking up a new 2015 SDR - was going to ask the dealer to load the akra map for me for the short (10 -15 min) ride home as I will have a de cat with austin racing GP3 / GP1R belly exit exhaust waiting at home for fitment (and dont want to make 2 trips lol).

Reckon they will do it? Surely it's just richer so will just eat more fuel on the way (on the very short ride) but be "safe" so to speak.

I had the map added to my 17 at the time of delivery of my bike even though it was ALL stock. No issues so to speak.

The bike does learn, adjusts and builds internal tables\maps so to speak with whatever its current configuration is, so it will be seeing, learning and adjusting somewhat to your Akra map yet stock exhaust, it may make the bike run kinda shitty. Once home pull Pos Bat cable for 10 minutes to clear your ECU of any "Tables" it has created for your Akra Map\Stock exhaust.

Then put the entire exhaust on and any other parts, and go for a really long ride (30 minutes plus), get it hot to cycle the fans and the bike should be good to go.

I know for me the bike was getting better with each ride. Look at some of my early posts (Akra map no Akra) and 5150 Pops replies, he's much more well versed at explaining this than me.
