Re: Aftermarket Filters & Air boxes
I would say no ram air affect, you need great velocity to over come 1000mbars of pressure at sea level.

Re: Aftermarket Filters & Air boxes
On my 2014 SDR I have simply replaced the std filer with a K&N and the can with an SC and it's excellent.... Sounds sweet , untra smooth on and off throttle.... No tuning required....
Life is short.... no one is irreplaceable....everyone is disposable..... work hard....enjoy life.....
Re: Aftermarket Filters & Air boxes
I notice that the Rottweiler kits are no longer providing the snorkel brackets.
Is that the preferred set-up now? Would there be any increase/decrease in performance if I remove the snorkels and bracket from my set-up?

Noise was the biggest thing I noticed with & without the snorkels.

Re: Aftermarket Filters & Air boxes
I had snorkels on and found my air filter was all pitted and degraded at the front after about 4,000kms. It was only the front, rest of filter was okay, so not sure if it has something to do with the high humidity/pollution where i live or another reason.
Had to replace the filter so took out the snorkels. I couldn't tell any difference to sound as it is already loud with a straight through pipe and a wings can.
Doing a bit of track time with the bike now and will do a visual check more often to see how the filter is doing.

More top end & you will need a map for the 80/40 stack combo.

Re: Aftermarket Filters & Air boxes
Super Duke owners just got even more tuning options with our new TVS-40-59 series velocity stacks. For those of you looking to slightly mellow your low end and move that power rush further towards the top end, Rottweiler Performance has now created our ultra short series velocity stacks in 40 millimeter lengths. Extensive dyno testing has shown significant top end gains when combining our ultra short stacks with either a front TVS-80 (80mm) stack or another short TVS-40 (40mm) front stack for the ultimate in top end power. If you spend most of your time in the upper RPM ranges, the TVS-40 series stacks are for you.
Combinations are as follows: (First number being the front cylinder velocity stack length)
100/100 - Stock Intake (Max Power 158.21 @ 9370 / Max Torque 97.32 @ 8090 RPM)
100/80 - Stage 2 Intake and up (Max Power 170.29 @ 8720 / Max Torque 106.62 @ 8250 RPM)
80/80 - (Max Power 173.35 @ 8760 / Max Torque 105.18 @ 8250 RPM)
80/40 - (Max Power 174.58 @ 8950 / Max Torque 106.79 @ 8270 RPM)
40/40 - (Max Power 175.42 @ 9020 / Max Torque 106.81 @ 8330 RPM)

Re: Aftermarket Filters & Air boxes
Thanks for sharing your results.
At the end of 2014 I asked Chris to make me a set of 40mm stacks, I did all the 40mm stack with different length combinations Dyno testing for Rottweiler & got simular results to yours I posted some of the results in my 1290 thread, Chris brought the 40mm stacks to market many months later.

Re: Aftermarket Filters & Air boxes
Hi,
Just ordered new Rotty with 80/40 velocity stacks.
In the old 1290 had Rotty with std/80 velocity stacks. Good torq.

Ive never seen torque figures above 110. And your hp is way low to have got that much gain. Somthings off with that dyno.Jay60 wrote:Hi,

Re: Aftermarket Filters & Air boxes
Torque is in Nm, 134.9 Nm = 99.5ft/lb. Seems about right.

I thought the same until I noticed the Nm on the side of the graph.

Re: Aftermarket Filters & Air boxes
Hi
Jep In nm. The results are different dyno to dyno. During summer one speed shop had free dyno testing and I got 140nm/170hp. So, like someone said in forum there are lots of happy dynos.
But my point is to have flat torq curve and nicely rising hp until redline.
Cheers

Re: Aftermarket Filters & Air boxes
So after reading through most of this thread I have a couple questions.
Is the stage 3 Rottweiler kit adequate or should I save up more and get the 4/5?
Do I have to retune the bike afterwards?
