Keyless junk

Post by Stpsd » Sun Sep 02, 2018 11:01 pm

Does anyone know if there is a way to eliminate this stupid keyless entry? I’ve gone through 5 batteries in 2 months and nobody can find the problem.

My understanding is that KTM is looking for a solution. In the meantime I just hold it to the tank to turn it on. No less convenient than having a traditional key.

I stopped changing the batteries. Just hold it on the plastic cover, and it should work.

Huh. If I hit the button, then immediately touch the key it normally works the first time. Sometimes it take more than one try, but eventually works.

I thought mine was battery issues too, but it’s a really simple fix.

Split the case on your fob and manually press the battery in with your thumb. It’s a contact issue. There’s not enough pressure with the outside case against the battery - thus not making a strong connection. Some people are putting a small piece of foam or cardboard in there to assist.

But try pressing it with you thumb first. It’ll light right up from a distance. Annoying that it was something this simple, but hope it helps.
