Radiator drip

Post by stephenmark19 » Sun Jul 19, 2020 9:34 pm

This is probably a dumb question. However, went out for a 40 minute ride on my 2017 SDR. As soon as I park the bike in the garage I noticed a few drops of water dripped from the top left corner of my radiator. Is this normal? It’s about 95° out. Thanks for your help.

You wouldn’t be the first one. Mounts are known to allow the radiator to sag and leak. I had to shell out over $1,000 to get it replaced on my 2017 at about 24k miles. I was past the factory warranty, and the third party extended warranty (Aegis) refused my claim due to me having a RadGuard radiator guard fitted. I sold the bike soon afterward. Soured me on KTM. Sorry. I hope that you have better luck.

Thank you for the reply and input. I fear you are correct. The thing that sucks the most is my dealership is 100 miles from where I live. Do you think I should let a local mechanic assess the situation or go straight KTM?
I only have 7000 miles on the bike. Lame.

It should still be under warranty, so I’d take it to KTM. I wouldn’t risk doing anything that would give them a reason to not cover it. Best of luck!
