2017 fuel pump recall

Post by JackRabbitSlim » Sat Dec 02, 2017 12:04 pm

Just got a call from my dealer and apparently KTM has a recall on the fuel pump. Needs me to bring in so they can replace it. Anyone heard of this? Was just curious as I haven’t even got my 600 mile break in yet. Wondering if any harm in waiting and taking in for both services at same time to save me a trip. Any insights would be great thanks

Yep, I had mine done last week. There are also service bulletins for a ECU update and protective sticker on the swingarm to stop the exhaust flap cables rubbing the paint.

I have a GT and was advised that the fuel pump was not a recall but more life a TSB. I wish i would have got a copy of the paper work. Nothing about the update or seeing arm issue. Maybe R specific

Hello, My first post here on this forum as I just picked up my KTM (2017 SDR) last week. I was also told by the delivery about the recall but it wasn't such that it would stop them from delivering the bike. I told the dealer that I plan to do it by my first major service (I'll probably do the 600 break in service myself) and he was fine with it. I did ask whether this was related to any "leak" risk or any other safety issue and he said no. Apparently it has affected a number of the pumps and in his opinion worst case scenario the pump will just stop working.

I can't find any info on this recall.

In Australia we have a government website for all recalls and searching for KTM doesn't bring up anything about the 2017 Super Duke

Hey Striff,

If its not on there then it must just be a dealer service item. I guess if you ask your dealer they can explain it better.

Cheers,
Bike is in with service, for a fault code they found when installing the Akrapovic tune.
I asked then about the fuel pump and yep, mine falls into this category, and they have ordered the needed parts for the fuel pump.
