2017 superduke fuel issues?

Post by orourkei » Wed Jun 21, 2017 6:21 pm

Hey all! I just got a 2017 superduke on Saturday after months of waiting. Ive racked up 200 miles in short order and have loved it. This morning however when I went to start the bike it wouldn't start well. It was trying and then it would die. It took about 4-5 tries to get it to stay idling. After that, it just felt a bit anemic. Low power as if it was on rain mode ( it wasn't). Im going to ride it back to the dealer tonight. Any idea what might be causing this? I filled it with 93 octane gas last night before a 30-minute ride and had no issues. One possibly related thing- The trip odometer was reset to 0 this morning for trip 1 and 2 and I didn't do that. Not intentionally at least. Could i be having battery issues possibly? Battery leads rattle loose from the vibes?

Search my posts.

Go for a long ride on the bike, make sure to get it hot enough to have the fans on.

The bike is adaptive and is always learning.

Had the same problems with mine during the break in period, sluggish (around 4-5K) and hard to start (almost like starting a old carbed bike when cold). Soon as I was done the 1000km break in period It was a totally different bike, had the dealer do the first service and they added some injector cleaner as well. Haven't had a problem since I came off the break in.

I would try to finish your break in period as it seemed like the mapping was off for me during this time.

My 2017 was a little off in the first 200 miles- cut out a couple of times- MTC Failure and Fuel Pump Failure on dash. Took to the dealer and he couldnt find anything wrong. I just read the manual properly and made sure I dont throttle on when starting it and wait for it to warm up.

Since then no issues at all-1200 miles- fingers crossed if this bike is reliable it will be my best motorbike in 40 years of riding almost every bike!!

I had some kind of MTC warning at around 300 miles. It stalled once before I took it in for the 600 miles service. I'm now at nearly 2000 miles and it's been fine. I try to only run it on SUL but a few times I've been caught out on long journeys.

Hey all- I just wanted to follow up. It turns out the fuel pump filters were faulty and needed to be replaced. It runs like the beast it is now.

That must be my issue as well. Mine has cut out 3 times in low gear after cold starts and 1-1.5 min warm up. Dealer said reflash but I'm going to talk to him about fuel filters.

Cheers guy's......I'm a GT owner having a snoop around and some of the others on the GT forum are talking ethanol fuel causing the fuel pump filters to collapse and block supply of go-juice.

Here in good old Aussie we can use non-ethanol fuels of 95 or 98 octane (our highest ratings) and are not having any fuel issues with our 1290GT's.

I wonder if there is a replacement filter part no that can handle ethanol blended fuel?

Cheers from the other side.
