Re: 2017 Keyless issue
No idea what the dealers did with their demo bikes. They only mentioned the fob battery. I suspect there is a bug in the software which will have been quietly ironed out on the 2018 bikes.
The brake recall is for a faulty Brembo front brake M/C piston which goes back to 2015 and also affects Ducat and Aprilia. Nothing to worry about, no imminent risk of brake failure except under severe race conditions. Every owner of affected bikes will get a letter from KTM and a free fix at their local dealer.

Yip tries a lithium iron & the STD battery no difference.James K wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2018 12:18 amI got a reply from KTM today after I contacted them on there website about my issue with key and have asked me to take my bike to a KTM dealer for repair, so will book it in for next week.
They said about changing the bikes battery now, which I hope is the fix. Was your bike battery ever changed?
Also a recall on the bikes front brakes I got a letter yesterday, so get both jobs together.

I had a software update at the service, they didn’t say what it was for. Hopefully the key thing is sorted now but I haven’t had the message come up for ages though.

Re: 2017 Keyless issue
When I had to bike in for the brake recall, I asked about the keyless issues.
The mechanics said KTM were aware of the issue but no fix.
They did mention that KTM did if you have mobile phone, make sure it's not same side of your body to where the key fob is.
Since making sure of this I haven't had an issue (over a month now).

Re: 2017 Keyless issue
Hi,
I had the update to did not fix the problem, next Tuesday i'm going to get a new key.
But a few days ago i dropped the key.
I have had problems to, not reading the key kept changing battery's this worked, but problem kept coming back.
What iv'e noticed with the key is the battery is not secure in the key fob so I secured it inside the key.
I cut thin card what the replacement battery's came in into same size as the hole in the key where the battery sits, I used 3 pieces to fill the hole to pack so the key back touched the card thus making the battery secure.
It seems to work, but would be interested if any body else could try to see if this works for them too!!
I left the bike for 5 days, same battery, went to start it and I was amazed it started 5 times straight of with the key in my pocket, so could this to be giving false signals if the battery moves in the key in your pocket when riding saying no key??
I noticed when I dropped the key and the battery became totally loose and had to refit it back in, so I thought if the battery can come loose then it will mess with the bike.
Can you please let me know what you think and if you tried and does it work?
Its so frustrating this happens on such a great bike..
If it does work then will get on to KTM saying what I think and maybe a better way of securing the battery in the key fob will fix this issue..
Worth a try..

Re: 2017 Keyless issue FIXED
Keyless problem fixed..........Read above 1st..................
Took SDR 17 in for 1st year service and collect a new key
I talked to service guys about my key and securing the battery in the fob
I told them since the battery in the key fob has been fixed securely in the fob I have no problems, NONE
We opened the new key fob and there was a grey cover over the battery to secure it in the fob
That was not in my key fob so my fix was correct.
If you are having problems with the key check inside the fob to see if this grey cover is fitted over the battery,
I said to the service guys I bet there are a few with no covers over the battery and having bad readings from key to bike.
Its a great bike worth sticking with it....................................................................................
I hope now that's it with issues.
Please let me know if this has helped you !!!!!!

Re: 2017 Keyless issue
Been dealing with this issue as well, assuming the answer would materialize. I find it works perfectly for two days with a fresh battery, then dead. The battery that is. The fob seems to drain batteries.

Re: 2017 Keyless issue
I've not had the problem for at least 3-4 months simply having my mobile phone in the opposite pocket was all I did.
