Fuel Gauge reading wrong

Post by 1290 » Sun Jul 26, 2015 7:06 am

Hi folks any one had this problem, seems my distance to empty is right but my gauge is wrong. The other day pulled into the servo 0 kays on distance to empty but gauge read two squares left filled her up and it took 17.2 liters. Did not even start flashing reserve. Almost done some pushing.

I have a problem as well
Mine reads half full and there is a full tank (to the lip)
Guess I will have to see what the go is at its first service as I have only done 500km

My gauge reads innacurately on the side stand. Have to have the bike upright for a few minutes for it to read correctly.

Yeah mine was on the paddock stands I took it for a ride round the block and after about 2 min it went to full
Not sure if the problem will reoccur guess I will see next time it is warm enough to put a tank through it

The fuel tank is bigger then the 18 liters KTM claimd, some people refill it with 18.9 liters.

Hi I have the opposite problem. Fuel light comes on, normally I get 60 km range left but then rapidly drops to zero. Often end up pouring in 19.1 litres. I'd prefer it to come on a bit earlier. Is there a way to adjust it?

evening Guys,
Sorry to bring this up again if it has been dealt with elsewhere.
Looking to get a 1290 but talking to a mate he says the fuel gauge is WAY out.
when full to brim trip shows 300 mile range, which would mean he had a 6 gallon(imperial) tank!
Only gets about 170 to empty, yet after 100 miles the fuel range shows still another 170 miles to go.
1290 mentioned a software upgrade, any more info?
cheers,
Rick

I read somewhere the tank range reads in km's regardless of what units you have it set for. Can't verify that at all, but if I do the math in the head, it could be right.

The digital gauge (miles remaining) on the small dash is worthless, and is as your friend describes.

There is another one on the large dash, however which is a bar graph, and is spot on.
It reads down accurately to the last bar, then you get a reminder to refuel come up with a few miles left in the tank. Can't remember how many.

Just use the bar graph and ignore the 'miles remaining' one.

Thanks again owl.
Will pass on the info, to avoid my mate having to push a dead bike to the petrol station.

Both gauges are accurate if you get the update.
