The top seam on my 2016 se also started leaking. I used marine epoxy, capped one end and used suction on the other to pull the stuff in and 4000 miles later knock on wood.

I got rid of the cat and loaded the akra map and I rode the bike home DRY and while at stop oil temp would get up to 208f once rolling it would come back down below 200f! I'm really impressed a v twin that puts out so much power can run so cool.
Enjoy

You rode the bike home DRY with the cooling system empty, just monitoring the oil temp? Couldn't have been that long of a ride or else I'm sure something would've let go, most likely a head gasket.

I was 2 1/2 hours from home and ambient temp was around 80f. I pulled over a few times, checked things over, for glowing orange pipes the best I could, but there was no hint the bike was in any trouble. I have no doubt had I been in traffic she would have gotten hot but sticking to the back roads and +80 mph speeds got me home trouble free. I don't recommend it and I only mention it to demonstrate how well its designed, seriously, heat kills and this bike runs cool with the akra map sans cat. I may have refilled the reservoir but I recall being worried about pouring cold water strait into the rad while hot, so yea I monitored the oil temp, found a speed and gear that kept it below 200f and got er home.

By the end of the 2020 riding season she'll be ready for the 18,000 mile service and that should show excessive heat, i'm not really expecting any surprises.
Enjoy
