extended warranties

Post by steve59 » Thu Dec 28, 2017 3:03 pm

My 2016se warranty will expire early summer and i'm wondering if getting an extended one is worth the money? I managed 10,500 on my 2015 incident free and I didn't baby that beast. I join forums of bikes i'm interested in to help me decide and the aprilia forum convinced me I won't be buying a tv4 anytime soon, but here's the thing besides the first batch of 2014's I haven't read much about problems with this bike. Has anyone here had significant problems with their 1290 SDR that would have been picked up by an extended warranty? tks
Enjoy

Steve
I did not go with an extended warranty since I wanted to pull the sas and cat. The only thing warranty wise on mine was the high beam switch would not stay latched and that was a common error of them. I also had the taillight mount break after warranty but I went with a company that makes a unit that has integrated turns and is programmable and they will rebuild if it ever fails for 20 dollars.

thanks for the reply. I asked my dealer about the midpipe swap and they said ktm wouldn't void the warranty for doing it so long as it was done responsibly, which I took to mean if my conversion didn't cause a malfunction I would be allright, coarse factory warrantys and aftermarket are different beasts but I went ahead and did the bodis link pipe, K&N filter and akra map right after break in on this one.
Enjoy
