SARGENT CUSTOM SEAT

Post by Chas » Sun Aug 05, 2012 4:39 pm

I'm about ready to send my SMT seat off to Sargent's Custom Division for a remake. My own specs are: 155 lb dry weight / 5'10" / 32" inseam / occasional passenger. I want to keep the seat height close to stock. My plan is to increase the size of both rider and passenger seating areas a little. Do any of you folks have any tips for me while I'm filling out the special order form on what to ask for?

Hey Chas, when you get the seat can I check it out? I just live up the hill near Grass Valley and would be happy to meet you.

Just returned from a trip to the Pyrenees, covered 1750miles in 8 days. On previous trips I have suffered real bad with the gel seat. Decided enough was enough and sent the original seat to be remade in California. They completely changed the saddle making the riders seat much wider almost looks like wings on each side. The difference was unbelievable 8-9 hours a day without a single issue.

The seat looks a bit strange but well worth it. The seat is called "Day long" and the company is Russell Cycle Products.

good luck with your choice

Pete

How about a couple pictures?
Russell Day Long seats are the bee knees in Long Distance seats, not surprised you like it. I do know the "wings" of which you speak but can't imagine how they would look on the SMT.
The wings do make touching the ground a challenge for those of us who already are on tip toes.

Yep, that's a Russell. Nice picture, KTM always belongs ahead of a Beemer!
