Seat height
Does anyone know where I can get a higher seat for the SMT? I'm 190cm and I'm just a bit cramped on the standard seat. I could get the original seat redone, but I'm not currently happy to park the bike up for 2 weeks to do it. Is the ergo (gel) seat any higher?

Re: Seat height
I should be so lucky as to have your problem. My problem is the opposite -- a short inseam -- and there's no way to lower the seat short of removing all the foam and sitting on the pan. Count your blessings.

Re: Seat height
I don't think the ergo seat is any different in height than the stock one. If anything, it feels thinner (lower).

Re: Seat height
The solution I've come up with is to buy an SMR seat. Its 20mm higher, it's not scalloped and it has more rigid foam. It should be OK for regular commuting, and I can always send away the stock seat to be reshaped for longer haul use and when I have a pillion. We'll see. Unfortunately the first one KTM delivered was damaged in transit, so I am waiting for a replacement. It fitted and felt good but I had to hand it back without riding with it.
Re: Seat height
Hi GerryS!
I've registered to the forum to ask if you tried the SMR seat? How is it?
I'm also 190+ cm tall and I need a higher seat solution in order to buy the SMT. There's a SMT for sale near to me so if I figure out the seat I'll buy it

Re: Seat height
I originally got the SMR seat about 2 weeks ago, but it was damaged in transit and I'm still waiting for a replacement from KTM. Given that it's over 6 weeks since I ordered other parts from KTM, I'm not holding my breath. It's a great bike but the after sales is suspect here in Australia.
Re: Seat height
Thanks GerryS!
It's a pity that you have to wait so much for the spare/power parts.
Is there anyone else who is over 190 cm tall (6.3 ft) and has opinion?

Re: Seat height
Have a look at the "A New Look" post pics. I've put a standard 990 SM seat on mine which fits fine. I'm 190 + cm and coming from my previous 950 SM I initially felt the seat was to low and sort of locked you in one position. I also put a sheep skin on the original seat which gave it a bit more height and long distance comfort. After trying both I think I prefer the original with the sheep skin (looks a bit crappy though). The missus says she likes the SM seat better (on short rides) though as it sits her lower and she can hang on more easily with her legs (on the bike that is).
Re: Seat height
Thanks Bruce!
I think I'll end up with SM seat too.
I really want the bike to be comfy. I'm used to my KTM Adventure so I want the same ergos on the SMT
