Hepco & Becker Panniers

Post by Teriyaki Man » Sat Jan 18, 2014 10:49 pm

Has anyone managed to fit Hepco & Becker Xplorer panniers to their SMT, or maybe a top box? I prefer them to the SW Motech Trax ones, and they're a bit cheaper, but the don't seem to make a bracket for the SMT. It's a lot of money to pay for luggage if they'd don't fit properly.

I'm also not sure whether to go for panniers or a big top box and keep the KTM panniers and would be interested in others experiences.

Any advice on this, or other makes of hard luggage, gratefully received. Pics too if poss.

Cheers.
Allan

That's a stunning looking SMT!

Your panniers look really good, but I can't find d anywhere that sells the KTM ones. I don't know who actually makes those, the don't look like Xplorers or Trax.

If I could get panniers like you rid be happy.

Cheers.

The ones in those photos? They're KTM-badged H&B Gobi.

Nice looking bike, just wondering what seat you have fitted and how do you find it ? Also what is the clutch cover you have ?

Ogden - thanks for the info. H&B told me they don't make a mounting kit for the SMT so I don't know if people are finding alternative brackets or if H&B have recently discontinued them. I'll keep looking.

PK. Bike looks great. Where did you get your seat done? Is it any more comfortable or is it just cosmetic?

It's the standard seat with 1" extra foam in the rear section for the wife extra comfort. it's a 2013 seat cover on it,looks better in real life about £18 if I'm not mistaken if you check my old post it's there somewhere with the part number if you want one?
The clutch cover is by rizoma racing but it's deleted now came of an older superduke looks good :D
Hope this helps

According to the 2011 Powerparts catalogue I've got sitting around, it's KTM part 620.12.020.100

Nearly hundred quid now with plenty of time left :!: I doubt they will be a huge bargain at close of play.

I bought my SMT in 2011 when they were offering the ttravel edition, which included tank bag and Trax panniers, touring screen, centre stand amd sat nav bracket.
Givi top box added, which never come off now. How did I cope without one for all these years?
It look good with the pannier brackets on and still handles with full boxes. Had a few trips over 2500 miles to Europe now and it just works great. My mates ride GS1200's and would not swap my SMT for one.
