Tightening forks?

Post by bambadoo » Sat Mar 10, 2018 7:30 am

Hi, my 2009 SMT has ridden 60000km now. I feel the front suspension should be a tad tighter. Have tried most of the settings but I still feel not quite comfortable.

A novice question perhaps but should the oil in them be changed or are there any other things that could be done?

Maybe I was a bit unclear.
I was wondering if the front forks "get looser" by age? And it then may be a good idea to change the fork oil?

I want a bit "stiffer/tighter" feel to the SMT. Unable to dial in complete with the adjustements.

Hi 'bambadoo'!

My 2010 SMt has 54600 km on the ODO.
Never replaced the oil in the fork tubes, but I'm in the beginning of it right now.
SO, if the oil hasn't been replaced for 60000 km I bet it's a good idea to do it. Also replace the slide bushings inside, and seals.

For sure, there are options for stiffer springs to put in the tubes.
