Fuel filter

2013 SMT

How often do you replace? I had some problems with the tank which eventually was replaced and coated internally by KTM. I was blocking up my filter every 6000 klms before the new tank.

I’ve done 7.5k miles on my filter and have no issues. I have a spare under the seat but I’m leaving alone until it goes wrong.

I replaced mine at 30000 miles, but upon inspection it didn't need it.

I've got a 990 Adventure Dakar. I have had to replaced my filters three times, twice in South America. They are the same filters and fuel pump. They fail randomly, the first I had about 20,000 miles on it, the second I had about 5,000. The third happened here in the US for no particular reason. They don't look bad either, but they are.

I don't know if it has been mentioned on this board, but on Advrider, there's a user named GEFR, who sells filter sets for around $30. The last set I have installed are his. I also have two spare sets. They are easy to just throw in with the spare parts I carry. On top of that, the GEFR set includes the dang sealing ring on the pump that swells up and gets pinched, when trying to re-install. You would think for $140 bucks, that KTM would include one in theirs ... but they don't.

My spare under my seat is one of his Image

My bike has 30k on its original filter still.

Replaced mine at 30kkm, wasn't causing any problems but it was pretty dirty.

I also ordered from GEFR on advrider, great guy. He has them back in stock, I think it was 27 euros plus couple weeks for delivery from Greece. Now at 65kkm's, so will be ordering soon again
