SMR 990 Slight wobble in front wheel from pothole

Post by ted99 » Sat Oct 21, 2017 1:20 am

I hit a pothole a while back. Since then, I've noticed a slight wobble when pushing the bike hard, when the front end comes off the ground a little bit. Guys at the motorcycle shop confirmed the slight left to right wobble.

Guys at the wheel shop said they can't straighten a left to right wheel issue. A brand new 2010 SMR wheel would cost $2,128, if I can even get one from Austria.

Does anyone know of a good option for this bike?

You could get a new front and rear for that price, motowheels.com has a few options.
Are you positive it's the wheel? Have you taken a peek at the head bearings lately? Did the forks maybe get twisted in the clamps? Just want to rule out the simple stuff first before dropping that kind of cash. Good excuse to get some shiny new wheels though!

If the wheel is definitely bent, Maidstone Motoliner in the UK (London) do a wheel straightening service for alloy wheels. I know there will be postage costs, but I understand that the cost to do the wheel is around £65.
Their web address is WWW.MOTOLINER.COM

Thanks for the replies Gentlemen.

I wounded up using Rohn at "www.theframestraightsystem.com." He's located in Tennessee.

I mounted the wheel last night and spun it on it's axle while on front stand. I think it's good now.
