Pops wrote:Hello all...I`m pretty good mechanically with basic motorcycle jobs but with computers/mapping etc I`m pretty green but I catch on quickly so my question is what map # should I use from Kevs list on my 2012 SMT?
Here`s what I`ve done:
Wings bolt-on exhaust > large DB killers installed
ITG JC 30-65 air system > standard OE stacks
SAS removed with blocking plates on
2nd flies removed, shafts in
use 91 octane with less than 10% ethanol (occasionally use 92 octane with no ethanol)
elevation range is between 1000 - 6500 ft. mostly all sport riding > twisty mountain roads with occasional off road riding (hard-pack/clay/gravel).
Thanks for any help and recommendations!
Unfortunately none of our maps are mapped for ethanol fuels, I would recommend to find the closet map & add 4% more fuel from 2000rpm upwards from 2% to 100% throttle opening in both F fuel tables.

Re: Kev's SMT modification list
Hmm, all of The Swedish fuel 95 or 98 has 5% ethanol, but tried 2 % more fuel and it runs not so well...
Do you 5 % will make it go so lean that it will affect The engine?

Re: Kev's SMT modification list
Hi Wrath. Saw your pm in the inbox. Sorry I haven't answered you. I assume the gas quality in Sweden is the same as in Norway. It is good quality. I don't think it will damage the engine.
What is your modifications right now?
I just fitted the ITG jc30-80 filter with the "long-short" stack combination instead of the jc30-65 "sausage filter" with rc8 stacks.
Haven't decided which setup I like most yet

Re: Kev's SMT modification list
Kev...thanks for the response. I have looked at all the maps and since I am unfamiliar with mapping I could not figure out which one to use. Given the list of things I have done to my SMT what map# would you suggest I use?
Thanks
Chris

Re: Kev's SMT modification list
Kev....correction on my local octane. Its 93 with up to 10% ethanol and the same with no ethanol. Dumb question time...is turning off SAS done with the chosen map or a separate program?
Thanks

Done in the map or connector eliminator + blocking off the system with SAS blanking plates.

Re: Kev's SMT modification list
Thanks Kev...sorry to be a pain but did you ever look to see which map# you would recommend for my setup? As you can tell I am a complete dummy when it comes to computers, mapping etc. I`m not really sure how to get all this mapping stuff started even though I have installed the ITG air box and blocking plates! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What material have you used there? The black paste.kevxtx wrote:Did my throttle grip mod this weekend, I lowered the first 30% of the throttle by 1mm then raised the ramp from 30% throttle opening by 2mm. I drilled a few holes in the throttle grip so the ramp has a good footing.

Re: throttle grip mod
I did mine, just finished polishing all the extra material, I used white Plastic Epoxy. Mine looks "fatter" than yours, but I thought I'll try it first & see how it is.
I will install it tonight. Did you made any cable adjustments, or it just fits in no problem?

WOW, you guys have done all sorts to your bikes.
Mine has new JCE cans and it is fantastic. Does all this work really make that much difference or are you bored at home and need to be in the garage when your not out on the bike?

Re: Kev's SMT modification list
Hey Kev, what gearing overall do you like better...16/41 or 17/42? I dont do much around town/city riding. I am mostly in the mountains riding twisty tight stuff and some high speed sweepers, what gearing would be better for me?
Thanks
Chris

Re: Kev's SMT modification list
17/45 works well for me.
6th at 50~60 on the road, tops out not far above the factory speed limiter, more teeth on the chain, less slap on the swing arm protector.
