Installing my itg filter and removing sas plates today. My lonetec tune ecu cable is taking a looooonng time to get here in California. Question: Can I damage my bike by running it without downloading a new map first? I already have Akra's, with Akra map. It popped before (I was ok with the occasional popping and backfiring personally), so I'm thinking it was too rich before. So would I be safe now by removing sas and airbox, then running the bike without a new map first? Or must I download a new map before I even fire up the bike?

ps. I will unscrew and remove the secondary flies as well.

Would be interested of getting Alexx's map, since I live in Helsinki and seem to have the same set-up in SMT. I did pm you.

I can share my dyno-tuned map using tuneecu if anyone needs to try:
Mods:
DNA MK3,
SAS blocked removed and switched off through tuneecu
O2 sensors blocked removed and switched off through tuneecu
Second flies in and used during tuning
EPC ON (I tested off too, not much difference on power and higher consumption)
Leovince cans
Sprockets 17-42
Map #20 as base map

Location Greece, fuel 95

However, always a custom map is better

Got to ask if anyone knows... Is the famous "Akra Map" that's posted on Rottweilers site set up for Rottweiler filter and Akra's or just Akra's only?

It begs the question, "Why would Rottweiler put a 990 SM Tune ECU Akra Map for just Akra's on their site?"

I installed the Rottweiler/ITG filter over the weekend. Without any mapping change (I'm told by previous owner it has Akra map), I can tell it definitely has more horsepower. And I do hear mechanical noise that I didn't hear before. I didn't remove the secondaries, so I can confirm for those wondering about that certain noise, a foam filter alone will allow that mechanical noise, even without removing secondary flies. I'm thinking the stock airbox muffles a lot of that certain mechanical noise.

Got Tune ECU cable installed last night, and I've already been fiddling with maps in Tune ECU. Will fiddle with mapping on bike tonight.

Just loaded a hybrid of map #20 and akro map onto the bike. I did this in the graph view, using the compare feature. Then I richened everything 2k rpm and above by 2%. Thank you Kevin!

The foam filter and map sound awesome. The front wheel wants to come off the ground easier when I crank the throttle. The akros feel hotter after getting off the bike. The map works well (no dyno), even with original stacks and secondary flies in. I left them in thinking it would keep the bike a bit quieter cruising through the neighborhood. It was already loud with the akro's (no baffles) before. With the Rott/ITG installed, the bike is that much louder, even with secondary flies in. You can hear them open up at full throttle by the throaty sound. Extremely cool.

Might as well just take the flies out then and enjoy

'ted99' and others.

I can confirm that the mechanical noise also appers even with the original air filter box mounted, but with secondary flies removed ('snorkel' removed and with K&N filter in place).
The noise is a bit annoying because it is noticed about 3000 rpm and above. I think I will mount the secondary flies during winter. Almost everything else is original, except air filter and snorkel.

Well, I probably had a custom map for my bike before. Even smoother than the Akra map (on graph).
I actually went back and reloaded my original map, and added 2% everywhere, after installing rottweiller/itg. Result - More power for sure. Less popping on deceleration than stock airbox. But NO ENGINE BRAKING. I like the engine breaking in the hills. I've never had to use so much back brake to get bike to slow down, so beware. If you install airbox and richen, I'd recommend you only richen at 2% throttle and above, as prescribed countless times in this thread.

I'll use trim table to decrease F1 and F2 back to original settings by decreasing throttle position 0 to 1 by 2%, then smooth the transition a bit via the graph view in tune ecu.

I must admit I hated the heavy engine braking, it unsettled the rear end when coming on off on the throttles when racing around, when down shifting with less compression braking under hard braking there is far less chance of locking the rear wheel up. I even fitted a slipper clutch to both my 990 SMR & SMT to reduce the engine braking even further.

Losing the engine braking has made my cornering a lot better too. Less frantic corner entry, just smooth
