Replacement mirrors....

Post by terrydel » Tue Jun 21, 2016 4:22 pm

Anyone got any suggestions?
Drove to Kerry from Dublin and back recently (300km, a lot of motorway) and my right hand mirror is very loose and needs adjusting at speed. I've never liked the mirrors, they are very cheap and dont add to the bike at all.
Some Rizomas would be nice, but theyre expensive and Im not sure if any are compatible.
Any ideas/suggestions from those who may have also changed theirs?
Cheers.

I installed Super Duke mirrors on my SMT. Much better.

Should be easy to tighten up your mirror. Push the rubber sleeve back from the top and you'll see 3 screws. Tighten them up just enough so you can still adjust your mirror without it flopping around and it'll be good for ages.

I apologize for not responding sooner. I don't have a link handy. The mirrors I purchased were from a 2015 SD. All nylon and aerodynamic better than the SMT post with rubber boot.

I'm currently riding a 1200 faultistrada and am coming 'home' to a KTM 990. I must say, the mirrors on the faultistrada are the best I've used. I may just copy you on this one and buy some, don't think I can sell it if I take the mirrors off [FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY].

What faults have you had with the multi? Had the smt 4yrs now and although it's a great bike I was looking at a multi, so please put me off it to confirm I don't need to change :P .
The one thing I do like about the smt is when touring we were up in Ullapool at the weekend you rarely see another. In comparison every other 4th bike seems to be. Gs or a multi
And i like to have something a little bit different, I did consider an mv turismo but no top box and rumors of going bust have put an end to this for long term ownership.
cheers
Paul

Are they easy to fit? I assume so.

In 16 months I've had 1 engine rebuild, 1 replacement radiator and the clock mileage randomly reset. Now, 13 months on (and just out of warranty) the engine has gone again. Main bearing failure with 21,000 miles on the clock (true mileage). Can't wait to get shot. Multi's ride awesome but I'm never touching Ducati again.

Your scoot looks good. I love my SMT. I installed the orange SD fender on the front of mine. I shall post a photo soon.

Just a bolt through the top and a rubber underneath to stop vibration.they are square at the bottom but go onto a round post not ideal but I still prefer to the originals.
If you zoom in on the middle pic you will see.
Hope this helps .
Cheers

Akra stickers on JC exhausts... you charlatan [FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY]

Nothing wrong with JC's. Just because they're cheaper doesn't mean they're no good. I'd have gotten them myself but they seem to have shut up shop [THUMBS DOWN SIGN]
