Orange on orange

Post by harrythemagnum » Tue Jun 14, 2016 11:17 am

Got my 2009 SMT last week, 350m ride home, interesting with shot chain and steering head bearings, but pleased with the bike.
Unusual colour combination of orange tank and covers, looking at photos of others I dont think this is stock.
It's been a bit "unloved" for a few years so I'm giving it a good going over and servicing, so no doubt lots of questions on the way.

First proper ride out on the bike today, it's been in the shed for over a month because I wanted to give it some tlc and service.
Shims done, all out, but not by much,
fluids changed,
new head bearings, the bottom one was rusted solid,
swingarm and shock out to grease bearings and pivots,
new chain, sprockets and brake pads,
exhaust off to remove brown staining and replace rusty fasteners,
fitted hid hi/low kit,
fabricated rad cover,
frame guards,
fender and hugger extensions,
new brackets for led lights,
made up some sliders,
treated spanglely side stand foot and belly pan.

After a couple of miles I was beginning to doubt that this was a good choice of bike to get me to slow down a bit, it's a lot lot lot of fun.

Nice colors :-)
But I think you missed to mount the chain sprocket cover...
