I'm 6'0, and 165 lbs no gear. Front end felt like it was gonna tuck all the time, suspension was soft up front. Went with the 5.0 n/mm front springs from RC8R. was much, much better on front.
Did you mess with valving?

Re: 1290 Suspension

My last bike was a supermoto. I bought both front and rear from a track guy who happened to weigh the same (175). It transformed the bike. I could stuff that thing into a corner better than anything I've ever owned. Now with the sdr I am all over the place. Reading what you guys are saying I have to...

Re: 1290 Suspension

James is bang on. Let the professionals handle setting up your suspension. That said, the suspension on the 2017 is optimized for a riders weight of MAX 165-170 lbs. that’s what it’s sprung for. If you’re heavier (like me at 240lbs for instance) NO AMOUNT of adjustment will make this system work. Y...

I like how it sits on the tank. Does it expand from 5-9L?

Wheels look awesome. Will be definitely doing mine this coming winter.

I have no problems swithcing to Smoto mode. It resets when the "key" is cycled, but it does work.

If you've never ridden a flashed Vmax then you won't know what I mean, but I will always have one. Might want to check one out if you can.
Buddy I grew up with has a Vmax. He said the same thing. He'll never sell it.

Anybody ever try Shinko tires? I ran them on my last 3 bikes, and liked them a great deal. In terms of cents per mile, they were unbeatable.
My father has used Shinko, and thought they were fine, but I wouldn't use them on an sdr. Performance bikes deserve performance rubber.

If it were not too loud, I'd be interested. I get home between 12:30 and 4:30 in the morning. Can't have a good ole neighbor waker.

Re: My 2017 SDR Build

Your bike came out pretty good. Not a "cobb job" for sure. I want to do some variant of the wheel strips. I commute in the dark, and the reflective stripes work good. I also want to get some parts painted, hopefully after the first of the year.

Re: Heated grips

I have experience with this one. The 2017 grip is different. I ordered a set for my bike, there is a gap between the throttle tube and the housing. I can get a picture in the next day or so. I had my dealer send me a set for the 2017, now I have both. The 2016 grips do work, just that gap and they a...

Re: My 2017 SDR Build

I like those rim strips. They don't happen to be reflective? I ride at night quite a bit, and had reflective tape rim stripes on my last bike. It worked pretty good. Looked cool, and was functional.
