Re: Second motorcycle to contrast the 1290?

if I could find a deal on a Monster 1200R that may have been my second choice to the SDR Said no one ever lol. VMAX if you’re short - maybe Tuono if you’re short(ish) - perhaps Nothing compares to the 2017/18 SDR or is remotely more fun to ride. Maybe some kind of blown bagger, but that’d just be m...

Re: Second motorcycle to contrast the 1290?

Lol, I like the 1200R. It isn't my first choice, but was in the top 3. Tuono Factory was the other. To be honest all my shopping was only done to reinforce my decision for the SDR. I went to a Yamaha dealer and told him I wanted the KTM, and to give me a deal on an FZ10 to talk me out of it. He said...

Re: Second motorcycle to contrast the 1290?

Go ahead and buy the tuono, you know you want it, it stole the show this year in every shootout and I think the Italians have figured out how to get more than 20 mpg out of that motor! personally still reading to many problems over on that site tho they seem to get better every year. I like the Tuo...

Check out these bags. Don't know how they interact with an Akrapovic, but they tick all of my boxes. If I buy saddlebags this is what I'll do.

When ever I see carbon fiber wheels it makes wonder if an additional job would be appropriate. Lol

My guess is it is pretty straight forward, yet involved. Does anyone have access to a service manual pdf?

It also does a good job of redirecting the wind blast from your stomach to around your helmet with no buffeting. Definitely keeps you from fighting against the blast which can get tiring.

How tall are you?

Re: Puig windscreen

Huh, I thought it was pretty good. The bike looks better without it, but of the options I liked this one the most. I will only be using it for extended rides, mounting is only two bolts.

Re: Slip Adjustment

If the tc is enabled and you are in track mode you have the option of 1-9. 1 being the least intrusive. When you are looking at the main screen (speedo/tach etc) push the ip and down arrows. You can adjust the slip on the fly.

I'm 6'0, and 165 lbs no gear. Front end felt like it was gonna tuck all the time, suspension was soft up front. Went with the 5.0 n/mm front springs from RC8R. was much, much better on front.

Re: 1290 Suspension

My last bike was a supermoto. I bought both front and rear from a track guy who happened to weigh the same (175). It transformed the bike. I could stuff that thing into a corner better than anything I've ever owned. Now with the sdr I am all over the place. Reading what you guys are saying I have to...

Re: 1290 Suspension

James is bang on. Let the professionals handle setting up your suspension. That said, the suspension on the 2017 is optimized for a riders weight of MAX 165-170 lbs. that’s what it’s sprung for. If you’re heavier (like me at 240lbs for instance) NO AMOUNT of adjustment will make this system work. Y...
