Re: Fuel Tank Removal, Emissions equipment removal for GT

What would happen if you just remove the canister and loop the 2 pipes? When you think about it, the purge valve would be allowing the vacuum from the throttle bodies to suck unfiltered air from around the fuel tank filler assembly. So removal, or the quick and easy loop of the purge valve, is bett...

Re: Cam lobes damaged!..... with worn out oil

In the back of my mind ( .... scary place eh  ) I've been perplexed with this issue....... so on re-reading that cam lobe story, the story presented was:- Oil at 620ml(1000km) - Motorex 4T 10w50 (I assume that's Top Speed FS, not Formula 4T semi synth). Oil at 7500mls(12,000kms) Oil at 17...

Re: Well That Was a Surprise...

Cheers pk1 & knackers, Same goes for me...... I was happy with bog stock standard...... but I really wanted more space under the rear seat to free up my top case from the weight and bulk of extra tools & puncture repair gear, and to ride without the case if i didn't need it to carry other stuff. I t...

Re: What have you added to your gt today?

G'day steveGnome, Have a look on the KTM website if you haven't already visited the dealership. The tinted screen for the 2016-2018 model was $240Au and they send them from the Perth WA warehouse. I haven't had a look at the KTM spares site yet....... there might be lots of goodies available...... b...

Re: Well That Was a Surprise...

G'day Pk1, I plugged the vacuum hoses from the throttle bodies and left them to be used for vacuum tube balancing with the tank on. The Purge valve can easily be looped using the redundant short 'bent' hoses from the vacuum 'Y' connector and from the charcoal canister hose with one straight white ho...

Hi Knacker's....... from the tropic's........ whew, it's hot and humid again today, will be good when winter happens  . Ok, that charcoal filter taking up space under your rear seat pad is connected to a 'purge valve' just up under the tank and in the Vee on the right side... near the multi fra...

Re: Well That Was a Surprise...

Yes to that Rock & Mick & PK1, I noticed my battery startup volts were 9.8 so I'm thinking that's probably the issue...... though it was the first road test with the Healtech ESE dongle plugged in (cat retained) and also the first time out with the charcoal eliminator dongle - so I hope it isn't a c...

I intended to stop and shout myself breakfast at Manly but so did everyone else in the area, so I went home after taking a pic to mark th...

Re: What have you added to your gt today?

Do they do a tinted screen for the 19 yet?........ there might be some aftermarket ones coming if the KTM shape isn't suited for your height....... keep an eye on Puig/V stream etc and I reckon you'll have to fit one of pk1's tank filler cap sticker design's...... that one's so classy...... 8-)

Cheers all, it's neat the way they fold in under the bodywork so they can't fly open while riding.

Not sure they are big enough for jjsc6's wallet though ;) .

Re: O2 Eliminator Kit from SmartMoto

Cheers Dave-O..... maybe if I had been knocking out the kms I'd have a better idea of what I should do. Unfortunately I'm still not back on board the bike ...... I think I'm ok to ride and the Dr didn't say I couldn't (in fact he asked if the SDGT had a relaxed riding position...... and said that wo...

Re: I have a horrible feeling I have an oil leak

I concur with mikesoldebikes...... you are just going to have to get your fingers dirty to find the real source  before doing anything serious like splitting the chain..... surely the sprox will come off after loosening the adjuster cam? Hopefully it's just chain oil (maybe the fuel overflow ho...

Re: Cam lobes damaged!

Yep, just read an article in a respected local bike mag....... fancy "racing" formula's are not suitable for long distance or high annual mileage road use...... it also advised that the SAE rating (eg 10w50 or 10w60 etc) tends to degrade quicker for oils with a greater difference in the rating eg a ...

Re: Lowering Kit 25mm for SDGT

G'day Stevie-G, You're the first I have read about, to have lowered an SDGT..... and there are quite a few vertically challenged riders well short of my very average 5' 9.5" or 175cm altitude  .... riding these - none have admitted to lowering their ride. The photo might be an optical delusion....
