Re: Well That Was a Surprise...

Cheers Mick, I'm feeling good...... so it looks like I'm at long last starting to return to normal. I already do 2-3 kms walking and lift 10kg loads (eg washing/shopping etc) but i'm still not confident about crawling under cars/bikes and raising a sweat doing hard work....... I'm driving around in ...

Re: Cold starting

Hi Mick and Rock...... I just posted a big report over on the GT forum...... I stopped by at my KTM dealership and had a talk with the KTM service tech about your issues......... have a read..... hopefully it will help find the cause of your problem. The stalling is not related to cold weather..... ...

Re: Dash blanked out after stall and restart

Here's the latest intel - hot off the press at my local KTM service centre..... :D I dropped in to say g'day to Ian and Matt at KTM Springwood this morning, and asked about Rock and Mick's dash blankouts and stalling issues........ and I learned a lot........ ;) So here it is (hopefully I have remem...

Re: Dash blanked out after stall and restart

Yeah Doc Rock.... something screwy going on with yours...... it's like somethings loose or shorting out at random...... hope mine never gets shitty with me...... all that electrickery..... could give a guy grey hair if it plays up..... A pity one of the forum members wasn't a KTM technician - like o...

Not a happy wife after being made to walk after hitting said cross country detour and a bit more....  Yeah, I'd walk too if I came across a road at 90deg to the horizon.....  Cheers Mick...... by the way..... what was the road surface - mud or thick loose gravel? Also.... did ...

Re: Seven warranty claims, and counting

Cheers mate...... I assume you got a good readout on the dash when you took it for a run with the new battery, so I'm thinking that Yuasa may have a bad batch/quality control issue (or a cost cutting issue :?: ). Might pay to stick a voltmeter across the battery to check the dash readout is correct....

Re: Dash blanked out after stall and restart

Cheers Dr Rock & cousin Dave ;) Rock, my GT is an 017 model (I bought it fresh off the docks in late Jan 2017) so my oem Yuasa is now almost 2yo and this year has not been kind to it - sitting idle for weeks and only running the motor up to operating temp once a month...... so I'm expecting th...

Re: Dash blanked out after stall and restart

Hmmmm, I'm wondering if the GT drains more power than it is supposed to....... I've been off the road for most of this year, and was starting my GT once a month, and putting the charger (a Ctek MXS 3.8) on once a month...... then in October it wouldn't start first go (so I thought stale fuel, or bat...

Re: Seven warranty claims, and counting

Cheers guys....... did the new battery fix the electrical issues? I won't be refitting a Yuasa oem battery when my time comes as they are more expensive than they deserve to be and only have 200cca. I'll either go a Lithium (if they are now reliable) or most likely a locally made (imported?) SSB bra...

Re: General failure on cold starting

Hi Mick, Just heading to the GT forum and spotted your post........ sorry to hear your local dealer isn't able to sort the issue. Is there another dealer within a reasonable range for you...... maybe a phone call to a well known dealership might help steer your local in the right direction...... fai...

Re: 2018 &19 SDGT Comparo Test - Suspension Software

Hope it goes well eXiLe88 after the new guys work on it :) Rock (in the USA) is having similar trouble with his GT refusing to start and dash blanking out....... between the two sides of the planet, maybe one will find the solution for both bikes. Thinking it could also be battery related, in that m...

Re: Dash blanked out after stall and restart

Rock, when i pulled my battery out to help solve a query about replacement batteries, I noticed it came out easy (the ECU stands up out of the way). But...... I struggled to get it back in, and the ECU plate would not sit flat again. I found I had caught part of the +ve side wiring harness and it wa...

Re: 2019 KTM SDGT Photo's are Out

G'day PK....... Ok..... reading reading...... ah there it is....... Sir Al says...... Gt has same 75deg LC8 as the 'R', (which we knew) but with different tuning and some uprated hardware. The inlet valves are now titanium and allow an extra 500 rpm before rev limiter. Revised resonator chambers, ma...

Hmmmm... a new side by side SDGT eh? Perfect weather for it....... low humidity, warm but nice, ...... nearly time for me to test the Gt....... Good to see a couple of responses to my cheeky title...... Re: 2019 KTM SDGT Photo's are Out

Cheers RDKLL....... Just been reading the latest ride review from the esteemed 'Sir Alan Cathcart' ( a UK bike journo who was a good racer in his younger days). He had a KTM PR manager along as a companion (on a 2018 SDGT) so they could swap and compare on the fly. The old bugger gives the new model...

Re: Well That Was a Surprise...

Ahhhhhhh,...... that felt gooood,........ took the Tucson down the highway to have coffee with my world traveling bike mates :D . I was thinking I'd need more time to grind the rust off my brain-cogs, but after 4 short drives (and a grand total of 53kms ),...... I'm rapidly getting my mojo back...

Re: 2018 &19 SDGT Comparo Test - Suspension Software

Cheers from Aus eXile88... :) KTM Aus has a recall campaign out on fuel pumps, so I'm surprised they hadn't done your's. (They also have a 'Brembo' recall and a "inpsect the fuse box" campaign to complete at my next service). I suspect "Sir Al" might not have the full technical details in his articl...

2018 &19 SDGT Comparo Test - Suspension Software

Hi all, Just reading my latest Aus Motorcycle News magazine....... that lucky bugger 'Sir Alan Cathcart' has scored a test of the 2019 SDGT with the 2018 GT alongside. Most notable comment (for us) is that the suspension hardware is identical to 2016-2018 versions and that only the software has been...

Re: Dash blanked out after stall and restart

Cheers Rock....... words of much wisdom....... ;) I still don't know for sure who was telling the truth about the SDR's radiator..... dealer saying stone hit (??to avoid warranty claim??) or repairer saying fatigue (?? to keep good with the owner and score the business??). Also, SDR drivers tend to ...
