Re: 990 Power Commander 5 & Tune ECU custom maps

Just get as close as you can. As fair as airbox goes, the rotty is just a foam filter the same as the ITG/motohoolign so don’t worry yourself there. Same goes for brand of exhaust. It simply doesn’t matter and is close enough. It certainly won’t cause any damage if the map states 95 Ron and you’re t...

Re: How much louder is a Rottweiler than the stock intake?

It’s louder, no worse than pipes though. I ride without earplugs and my wife goes on the back with no complaints. Did over 7 thousand miles last year with my airbox and no problems

Re: Power commander really necessary?

No need to mess about with resistors. Just untick the box on TuneECU and it’s disabled.

Re: Power commander really necessary?

No need to get a Power Commander at all. TuneECU programs the ECU directly and therefore you have no need to have a PCV unit sitting there piggybacking on the ECU.

TuneECU is very easy to use. Takes a few minutes to upload a new map.

Nope. Superduke is the only one that won’t fit.

Re: Mastad windscreen?

Looks like a Palmer Screen that’s been left in a puddle of miracle grow. I’ve the Palmer and it’s very good. No buffeting and greatly reduced wind noise. That looks too tall to me though, my Palmer is spot on height wise as I can still see over it. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180206/6e60a99b4...

Re: Instructions/manual for soft panniers?

No, the tiny Velcro pouches are to house the locks when not being used. Have yours got the locking release inside? If not, try and find a lock Kit as it means you can lock them to the bike. It’s basically the same mechanism you use to get them off the bike, only inside the bags and then when you loc...

Re: My 2013 has arrived

Looks like that is an aftermarket seat. Maybe what you need is the original. The 13 original seat also has some nice orange thread which sets it off nicely. Get those fork reflectors off ASAP and get some WP stickers on there. As for the screen, bigger may not be better. The best screen by far is th...

Re: Fuel filter

I've got a 990 Adventure Dakar. I have had to replaced my filters three times, twice in South America. They are the same filters and fuel pump. They fail randomly, the first I had about 20,000 miles on it, the second I had about 5,000. The third happened here in the US for no particular reason. The...

Re: Fuel filter

2013 SMT How often do you replace? I had some problems with the tank which eventually was replaced and coated internally by KTM. I was blocking up my filter every 6000 klms before the new tank. I’ve done 7.5k miles on my filter and have no issues. I have a spare under the seat but I’m leaving alone...

Re: Parts needed for tune up

Did you need any O rings or valve cover gaskets. Stuff like that? :geek: No, I didn’t change any gaskets or o-rings, other than what normally comes in the oil filter Kit. Head gaskets we’re fine to reuse, just be carful with the front head if you plan on leaving the rad on (I did). Clearance is rea...

Re: Parts needed for tune up

2013 990SMT I'm going to do a service myself. I've got a shim kit and crank holding tool, air filter, fuel filter, and spark plugs. What else should I order before I start? :geek: I’ve just finished my big service. You need a big (14mm) Allen key to crank the engine over to find TDC. Have you got f...

Sounds like a reg/rec issue to me. Can you check the voltage on it?

Re: Clutch /engine problem LC8

Crap. If chain and sprockets were done recently, was the manual followed with regards to chain slack? They run slacker than you’d think due to the suspension travel. If the fitter just went with what the norm is on other bikes, it could explain why it went tight.

Re: Talking about calipers...

I’ve seen it done on Ducati Multistrada 1200s and their abs works the same way and it was fine. In this video? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aiGDtdWJKeQ No, not on the video. It was a reasonably common upgrade on that bike as the brakes weren’t the greatest. SMT is a lot lighter so the brakes are...

Re: Talking about calipers...

Do you have abs on your smt? If so, I don’t think you can change calipers as abs is set up for the default ones. Yes, I have ABS. Abs works on pulses from the abs ring. Changing calipers won’t make a difference to the abs. I think the same. Anyone has done this performance? I’ve seen it done on Duc...

And of course you get the option of an accessory bar on the Palmer so you can sit your nav right above the clocks.
