Chain

Hello,

I've just noticed this morning 1 of my x-rings has snapped on my chain. I'm planning a trip to Scotland on the bank holiday weekend which should entail 1000miles. Should I try and get the chain replaced before I go?

Cheers
Nick

3rd design airbox for 1190.

I order a new lower airbox from Jim Aim, I'll not go into the reason why but I bought a KTM DNA filter too. The airbox has been redesigned again and in my opinion, it's much better. Instead of the hinged securing frame, they have now introduced a two peice wedge slide design. One peice is designed t...

Ergo Seat

Well, after much contemplating, I decided to buy ergo seats for my 1190 Adventure. I know what the majority of comments are about this subject and yes, KTM should have put more comfortable seats on a £14k bike in the first place but my word, ergo seats! Wow, what a difference. 2 hrs in the saddle an...

Re: Tank bag

Nice. What else do you have for luggage?

I've just bought a x30 tail pack from Oxford. It's a great bit of kit but not as big as I'd hoped 30ltr would be. Thinking of selling it before I use it and reclaim some coin.

Re: Shift light

I noticed on the SA I test rode, it did flash at 6000rpm and without touching it, when the bike clocked 600 miles, it stopped.

Re: Front pads toast at 7,135 miles

Not front but back. My rear pads were changed at 7k miles and my dealer installed EBC red stuff. I've not noticed any difference in stopping power on the rear brake. It still works well. Not sure if the front pads will give the same results.

Re: Recommend maintenance

There is a special tool for torqueing the fancy nut but I just used a torque driver carefully and had an educated guess at how tight that torque setting was. There was no notchy tight feeling with the front wheel off the ground and the bars still moved with gravity so I'm pretty happy with what I've...

Shift light

Just noticed my shift light was switched off in settings. Switched it on tonight, probably a bad idea, I haven't revved the bike this hard so often just to see it come on lol. It's addictive 8-)

Recommend maintenance

If I can recommend you do 1 thing to your bike this weekend, that would be check your head stock bearings. I adjusted mine this week because I was getting a click from the head stock under hard braking and what a difference. Silky smooth turn in and the bike feels so much more stable mid corner and ...

Re: Airbox issue

I think I'll end up going for the unifilter as the rest are out of stock :-( hopefully it will sort the problem. And thanks for the wee tip on cleaning the flaps :)

I hadn't seen the powercell filters before now. I'm not sure I like the look of those to be honest but thanks for pointing them out.

Re: Airbox issue

Opened up my air box tonight, the bikes nearly done 10k miles. I have a slight infestation of dust on my flaps!! The air box looks generally clean but with the flaps getting wet while riding (this is getting worse), the dust is sticking to them when they're open. You can see on the last phot where I...

I've yet to inspect my air box but living in Northern England where the air is rarely dry I can't see anything other than condensation being in there lol.

How long does it take to open up the air box?

1190 Adv Bad Starting (Not The Usual Post)

Just a question. For those that suffer from bad Starting, what exhaust is on the bike? I only ask as I have a Wings on mine and my bike starts poorly. I've recently gone back to standard exhaust and so far, the bike starts. Not brilliantly but it does start. So, really I'm trying to find a cause for...

Re: Front sprocket almost touching swingarm

On the 1190 Adv you have to unpin the swing arm to get the front sprocket OFF.

PITA!
