Re: Decat

So the latest news is that the KTM ECU is more intelligent than life on earth! It wont take the "flash" and eliminate the exhaust servo! Back to square one! We are now cutting the exhaust valve out, and fitting it into the Remus intermediate pipe. Not perfect, but next best. Has anyone tried running...

Re: Decat

So apparently, the exhaust servo will be removed, a dongle installed in it's place and a map "flash"; they say it should be 100%. They are working on it as I type.

Re: Lucky me..

In South Africa speed limits are just numbers. Our "New South African" Police force are so rotten to the core, that IF you get stopped, a couple of Rands and you're on your way again.
Sorry for the post Hi Jack.

Re: Remus link pipe

I was told today that they'll be replacing the torque limiter of the starter. We'll have to wait and see.

Re: MTC Failure What Do You Think?

These exhaust servo motors seem to be a real problem! I fitted a Remus link pipe and got the dreaded MTC warning! Took my bike back to the dealer and told them to sort this cr*p out! They found the servo was faulty. They are going to replace it with a "dongle" which will eliminate that swine servo a...

Re: Decat

Apparently the new part arrives tomorrow. I'll post as soon as I hear anything. After complaining about a periodic starter motor noise; bike has only done 800kms; they've agreed to replace a torque limiter, but I'll have to wait another week for it to arrive from factory! Oh the joys of living in Af...

Re: Decat

After fitting my Remus link pipe, I went for short 10min ride, and the bike sounded great and was fine. The next day, after less than 35kms, I got the dreaded MTC! No amount of adjusting the "cam" on the servo would fix it! Bike is now with KTM as I suspect the servo is knackered; (they agree at this...

Re: Remus link pipe

So I went for a short ride this morning to test and all was well; very nice in fact. I left the bike for a few hours and went on another short ride to tpwn tp collect something. Upon starting, I got the dreaded MTC failure and limp mode.... I crawled home and pulled the servo off again, but cant see...

Re: Remus link pipe

Fitted it last night, and yes, pay very careful attention to the servo position. It took a couple of attempts, but it seems fine now. Now the bike sounds like it looks, and I don't think a slip on is necessary. I will now get the "Akro" map fitted at the 1st service, due in 150kms as the bike feels ...

Remus link pipe

I cant wait! My Remus link pipe should arrive today! It's taken the best part of 4 months to find the correct link pipe WITH a device to fit into the exhaust servo. Holding thumbs!

Re: MRA X-creen Sport

I tried the X-creen and it certainly was better, but I thought I could improve it even more, so I fitted a Puig Touring screen. Only ridden it today for the 1st time for about 10minutes, so I need a bit more time to make an accurate call, but it certainly seems great. A quick squirt up to 235kmh and...

Re: Hard Suspension

Thanks everyone for your input; at one stage I thought I was losing my mind! My wife and I went for a good length ride this past weekend, and I put it on Comfort and 1 rider + baggage. Wow, what a different motorcycle! Touched speeds of 220kph and it was perfect! PS: my wife is now refered to offici...

Hard Suspension

Good day all I've recently bought a new 1290 SD after having an 1190 Adventure. Admitedly, I've only done a few hundred K's, but I'm finding the suspension incredibly hard, to the point of being uncomfortable. I took my wife for a short ride last week and she hated every minute of it; probably wont ...

MRA X-creen Sport

Coming off the 1190 Adv, I am finding the buffeting quite bad on the GT. At a height of 182cm's, I guess that is part of the problem. After much searching,I decided to try the X-creen Sport, as it had rave reviews. Many of the screens that I considered, were as big as a barn door, and to be honest, ...

Re: some experience about OIL on GT

I am well aware of excessive oil consumption with certain oils; in fact, we had it happen with our Husqvarna FC250 Redhead a few years ago, when we used Liqui Moly. To date, we've never had an issue with Motul 300V and we've used it in a few motorcycles. There are lots of good oils around; use what ...

1290 SD GT recall

Hey guys; just had a recall on my bike this week; I've only done 400kms and was told, "Do not ride" your bike until we've had it. I took it in, and the Dealer replaced a fuel line(or connector) and also I see that they've replace the side stand spring. Anyone else had this done?
