I also know we have some locals on here that id love to ride with. Ive explored almost everything between Tellico Plains and Bristol TN and as far south as blood mountain and Asheville. Id love to get shown some new roads.

Re: KTM’s KILL the Dragon

Im down 5+ times a year some with large and small groups. I've found it easyest to just pick a weekend, say met for breakfast at the resort at a set time and go from there. Trying to get everyone to stay at the same place is always a headache. That being said. In recent years i stay at rental houses...

Re: Akropovic shorty

I’ve heard one now, way too loud. Also someone was telling me you can damage the engine if you go with one of these, not sure how true that is. Won't damage anything unless you remove the cat and all the back pressure. If you think this is loud you better just stay with the original system Sent fro...

Re: 1290 Suspension

I have a reasonably simple question. I don't want to put kits in or anything like that. But I eventually will want to swap the fork springs and shock spring for a suitable item for my weight. Where do I get WP replacement springs or equivalent from? Preference is WP component but I would appreciate...

Re: 2015 or 2017 model?

Besides the looks & ergonomics'. In 2016 KTM gave the 1290 a few more 6HP & Torque over the 14/15 models as in more ignitions as in new ECU software, in 2017 they gave it a few more ponies with head work, shorter stacks & a few other things. The 2017 1290 suspension was an improvement over all othe...

Re: Celebrating the 'Beast'

I love NC 28 from DG Resort to Franklin and yes, Wayah has become rough...too bad. I only ride the Dragon early mornings, Monday through Friday. Very light traffic then. ;) I've always done the same at the Dragon. I have no desire to get run off the road by some retiree from Florida on his Street G...

Re: Celebrating the 'Beast'

There's a few back roads between Franklin/Highlands/Cullowhee that almost never have traffic and are an absolute blast to ride. Over towards where I'm at we've got 276, 209 and 215, all of which are excellent. One of my favourites is 281 out of Tuskegee. Never any traffic. If they would ever repave...

Re: Aftermarket Filters & Air boxes

Hi, Just ordered new Rotty with 80/40 velocity stacks. In the old 1290 had Rotty with std/80 velocity stacks. Good torq. A103B111-8751-41AA-8509-DC3E7B13467E.jpeg Ive never seen torque figures above 110. And your hp is way low to have got that much gain. Somthings off with that dyno. Sent from my S...

Re: Aftermarket exhaust pipes for the 1290

I am completely satisfied with my Arrow Titanium DeCat exhaust. According to my scale, the weight savings is 10.5 lbs. compared with the factory muffler and cat. The sound is plenty loud (it's all 'straight through' now) and, to my ears, sounds similar to a full Akra, without the Akra expense but a...

Re: Thinking of Selling

I'm still trying to figure it out as well as a Turbo Busa is polar opposite of the 17 SDR. If I'm honest, I guess its a Dick Measuring Contest with a buddy I ride with. He has a modded ZX-14, I can ride his rear tire, stay ahead of him in the twisties yet on the back country open road stretches he ...

Re: Bike shuts off at low speed when cold and downshift to 1st

I have this issue on occasion. I think its more to due with the clutch switch killing the bike than it is a cold start issue. On my bike it fells less like a stall and more like someone just hit the kill switch.
