Re: Burning smell?

I sense a similar odour and I put it down to chain lube burning off the collector box under the motor.. ;) I'm a classic over oiler and I can see plenty of chain splatter around the foot peg/sprocket area  I'm guessing, but if it isn't that then it could be some oil fumes escaping the airbox vi...

Belly Pans for GT

G'day all,

Just stumbled onto a post in the general section of this forum (Random chatter).

There are now three styles available - check out the links........Puig, SW Motech and Ibex.

Very tempting....... 8-)

Re: Change of suspension

Cheers Mr C....... I wonder if anyone is thinking of making up a plug in dongle that tricks the ECU into thinking the suspension is working.......then just replace WP forks and shock with Ohlins units same diameter/length?

Might cost a bit ...... ;)

Re: Quick shifter not working

Yeah, my local tech said they normally activate the QS at the 1000km/620m warranty service....KTM prob think you shouldn't use the QS until the gearbox has scrubbed a few rough edges off........but they activated mine from day 1 anyway........that's cause I say please and thankyou....... When ...

Re: New 2016 SDGT

Cheers Twisted One.. ;) I bolted the Acerbis 'Dual Road' handguards on mine (saw a post from an owner in France on this site) and they look great and work well - others have grafted some KTM guards from 1190/etc on to keep the cold air blast off the fingers while the hot grips do their thing (see po...

Re: Who's done front sprox mod !

Thanks SDGT.......now I know why you wrote 'good luck' I stumbled around the website (USA & EU) but could only find the stock 38T....... my searches didn't work (error) and the site didn't have the usual brand & bike style index (only in the "buy now" section - which led me to the stock sprox'...

Re: Let's see the GT's

Cheers Allan, that first pic brings back lots of memories.......there was a chalet on the shore of a beautiful lake at the foot of Mt St H.......then the eruption covered it and everything else for miles and miles. The visitor centre screens an interesting documentary which finishes with the screen ...

Re: Change of suspension

Yep, gotta admit the dynamic stuff is probably more suited to road riding than track day racing......not that I ever go fast officer.. ;) Let the snow melt and then muddle through the break-in miles like we did..... try any setting that seems to be ok until you get some miles into that suspension. B...

Re: Not a problem, just WOW!

Yeah, the WOW factor is huge.. :D I keep forgetting to try mine out with the Lectronics 'off' - err just to see what it's like without all the anti wheelie, anti skid, anti etc....... not that I'm all that crazy, just want to calmly see what's going on behind the scene's ........but the thing goes s...

Re: It quit...but did refire!

Cheers Clogan, you are correct of course but these guys are suffering from Ethanol fuel contamination problems. My Aussie fuel is unadulterated clean petrol - unlike that cats peee E-blend the rest of the world seems to have to endure. Even though the Gt is rated as 10% E-tolerant, a rider can...

Re: New 2016 SDGT

G'day Twisty - from Aus :) I have a 2017 GT and have just over 10,000kms (should have hit 15k kms by now but have been sickly or injured or it's been pissing rain on weekends..... ). The only difference I know of between 016-017 models was the rear indicators were changed to slimline LED. Far...

Re: Let's see the GT's

Well framed shot sir! I visited Mt St Helens way back in 1997.......it was a very solemn sight riding through all the flattened forests (Mt St H blew it's side out and obliterated everything in the park). It has regenerated nicely, though it was a spectacular display of how much power is generated b...

Re: Bag locks

Geeze with the cost of these cases (mine were $1300Aus - our GT's don't come standard with cases) I'd consider the option of the SW Motec rack and some Givi cases (they have keyless access hatches so they don't need to be opened fully while on tour)......but they won't look as slim or be as light as...

Abba.......weren't they a mega selling pop music group last century..... Cheers Mr C - how deep is the snow so far this season? we are grumbling about the heat humidity and pesky weekend rain......but that is nothing in comparison to a couple of feet of snow & ice... ;). Must add, while I've h...

Re: It quit...but did refire!

It's been a while since I could explore the forum (laptop was sick since 23Oct)......but deep in the confines of what i'll call 'my memory'...... I recall reading stuff in this forum about stalling.......and I thinkit was traced to fuel affecting filters in some vin's........ maybe that's why your's...

Re: Let's see the GT's

Nice one......and that stand looks the goods! I have the rear ss style but it takes a grunt to get it up and it also lets the bike spring about a bit (hope it never breaks.....will end in tears if it does)..... but your central stand looks solid - does it lift the front wheel up if you put weight on...

Errr, me again...... had to get local PC repair shop to clear and reinstall W10 to fix "IP address not configured" problem. Thanks Mocrosoft....... that'll be $180Aus and while we're there we'll put a faster SSHD in for $170Au and you'll be really 'appy' Oh well, it all 'werks' better than eve...
