Open Day for Canberra War Memorial Annex - Aussie KTM riders

G'day Aussie KTM riders, The once a year open day for the off site storage Annex is on again - 5th October 2019. That's when the Aust War Memorial throws open the doors to the Annex full of stuff that is not on display at the main site....... Good excuse to visit the Capital eh? I'm going, so there'...

Re: Well That Was a Surprise...

Thanks heaps guys...... :D , I've known this was coming since that negligent car driver pulled out in from of me way way back in 1986. So now I'm in the era of high reliability and good quality outcomes, it's time to act - lucky me  . I'm on the Cat 3 list for our Nat Health type scheme....... ...

No surprise this time.......

 ...... had my anticipated review for left hip damage/wear..... and I'm now pre-admitted for total hip replacement surgery....... I must be hooked on hospitals eh? Not a surprise this time as I have been struggling to mount the GT (especially with side cases on) and have been cutting down the d...

Re: Fork Chatter

Cheers mate, the suspension has been a mystery - mine seemed ok, but now the front uses more of it's travel than before the upgrade, so I am assuming the new software allows better fork action..... the rear has proper rebound damping and the mid corner jitters I had with the oem software (on bumpy s...

Re: Clutch lever issue

G'day Anton...... from the other Dave in Australia  . Pic from Dave in New Zealand is correct..... I'm pretty sure it is the cruise control 'off' sensor - so had you ridden with it contacting the lever pin, the cruise control would not engage...... I use my clutch lever to disengage CC - so now...

Re: Rottweiler Conversion Leaking Oil?? Oil Catch Solution

Cheers GC..... ;) ...... I know what you're referring to - he has been chastened by moderators and a number of his posts have been deleted. I'm glad I was out riding and hadn't had a chance to read those posts..... it's very disturbing to be the focus of a cyber bully ;) .

Much calmer here.

Re: MTC failure

G'day InkedZink, the Exup cables are easy to see, but you may still need to see the man if they require adjustment. Maybe just look to see if a lock nut has come loose. Follow the cables down from the servo motor to the exhaust for any obvious loose nuts. If the warning has gone away (usually they s...

Gearing Ratio's for SDGT's

G'day all, I have been experimenting with my 17SDGT final gearing ratio's and here is some info if anyone has been thinking of making some changes. 17/38 = OEM sprockets = awful - too tall geared for Aussie roads and speed limits.... struggles in 5th at 100kph and 6th cannot be used without being ca...

Re: 2016 gt quickshifter

G'day PeterH, Sometimes the quickshifter is disabled when KTM tech's load new updates. It may be worth asking if the system has been knocked out at a previous service. If your 16GT is new..... the dealer is probably waiting for the first service to activate the QS..... though my dealer told me mine ...

Yep, broken tooth, that figures ;) .

Probably sheer bad luck (sorry for the pun  )...... I guess all the manufacturers are in the same boat as they all use 3rd party suppliers for components ....... long gone are the in-house parts manufacturing days, only assembly lines remain.

Oh Dear, I Shouldn't Have Done That.......

Bugger....... I was kicking tyres with a mate down at my local KTM-Ducati-Suzuki-BRP dealership yesterday and threw my leg over a MS1260S touring demo. I can put both feet flat on the ground, and it has a centre stand. There's a lot different to the previous model (longer swing arm, different ergo's...

Re: Anyone else ever forget they had panniers on and go 150mph +?

My 2019 SDGT bags lost that piece after only a week of ownership. Maybe 300 miles on it. I was only going about 80 mph or so when i think it happened. I took it back to the dealership and I am also waiting on KTM to find out what they are going to do. The service manager said he thought they would ...

Re: Fork Chatter

G'day Ravendark & ColoSDGT. If you are still having issues, try asking for the 2019 ECU 'Upgrade' - it not only addresses the rebound damping rates on 16-18 SDGT's, but has several other software upgrades - might be a cure for the forks in there too. Everything is software linked these days........ ...

First Big Trip since surgery in 2018..... we call it the Zig Zag run

Cheers all still onboard here, Got back from 2700kms of bliss and 7 days of great food/coffee/beer and fun last Friday. My 17 SDGT has the 2019 ECU upgrade and new PR5 tyres and I am very happy to report that the software upgrade is fantastic (unless for some weird reason you really love the old stu...

Great news.

Now you can concentrate on putting some miles on the clock ;) .

Enjoy.

PS My BMW friends have had ECU's replaced on their latest model R1200RT's...... so all manufacturer's can have their bad days....... just so long as they sort the issue out asap  .

Thanks Dave for your follow up. I’m getting warnings coming up when I try to go to the other KTM forum. Anyone else getting this? G'day all, Got back from my 2,700km week long fine food, fine coffee, fun roads tour on friday :D .
