This is interesting for anyone looking at the screen:

Re: Will the KTM sat nav holder fit Zumo 550

It fits my Garmin 590 and I think the 590 is a bit bigger than the 550. I've got it positioned so it doesn't impact the movement of the screen. Bottom edge of the sat nav only just crosses the edge of the dials from rider's point of view. No problems with this, doesn't obscure anything and you still...

Re: So far

You should be fine Mick. I have a Garmin 590 mounted on mine using the KTM bracket. I believe the 590 is slightly larger than the 550. With the windscreen at its lowest and mount adjusted accordingly, the bottom edge of the Garmin only just crosses the top of the instrument panel, similar to the pho...

Re: MRA X-creen Sport

How did you go with the screen spoiler? I know the GT's wind noise isn't bad but noise really bugs me so I'd be interested in this if it made it quieter. BTW yes, I do wear earplugs. :)

Re: Almost but not quite there yet

Anecdotally, it seems there are a lot fewer issues being seen with the 17 models than the 16s from what's being talked about on forums/Facebook. I've got a 17 and it's been plain sailing for me so far. I'm very happy with the bike.

Re: A bit of a review

MR C, I've heard of some people getting exchanges on their panniers through warranty but (if memory serves) the ones in question were letting in water.

RDKLL, I've seen the details of your crash and the saga that followed. I hope you get yours sorted and back on the road asap!

Cheers Dave! I actually forgot to mention in my write up that I'm also using the luggage mode when riding with just myself on the bike.

A bit of a review

I've had the 1290 GT for a few months now and I guess this review can serve as my introduction. Hopefully it will help out anyone who's interested in getting a GT, I certainly relied on info from owners to inform my decision. Sorry, it's a bit of a long read. For reference I'm 6'0" and 81kgs, a ride...

Sorry to hear about the whole ordeal. I hope you're healing up ok. Sounds like you should at least end up with something that's as new though.

Re: Dash Reflections

This has bugged me as well, wish the dials had a non-reflective coating of some sort. I was going to look into this and see if anyone makes something I could overlay. A lot of companies make anti-glare products but they all seem to be pre-cut for mobile phones.

Re: Who's done front sprox mod !

I was thinking about changing the gearing at first (I also had a 16T front sprocket on the Capo) but I've decided to leave it as is for now.

If you're interested in the effects changes would make, this is a pretty cool tool:

Re: Ergo seats

I found the stock seat uncomfortable and an hour ride was enough to bring this out. For me it was the inside of my thighs where I felt it, the ass area didn't bother me. I want the GT set up for long days so grabbed the GT ergo seat when I bought the bike. It is definitely an improvement in comfort ...

Re: Oiling the chain on long rides/after rain

A mate of mine was doing that with his Diavel.....until the side stand broke! I've never heard of that happening before, will avoid that approach on the GT then. Not a great thing to do in the middle of a tour. Reminds me of the time someone's Suzuki Bandit had it's clutch sensor die about 1,500km ...
