Re: Back in the fold!!

I went from a 990 SMT, to an 1190 Adventure S, 1290 GT and have now ended up with a 1290 S and i love it. As for the 1290 GT, it was ballistic and fun BUT for me at 6' 2" tall my legs just didn't fit the tank cut outs, plus like "oldgit" I didn't like the suspension on less than perfect roads. Where...

Re: Who's done front sprox mod !

Well here's my thoughts after 1,100 miles and a selection of roads from motorway to very tight bumpy back roads on Irelands Wild Atlantic Way. It's a vast improvement changing to the 40 tooth rear sprocket. The bike is now happy at 80mph in 6th gear and responses better in top gear so makes motorway...

Re: Who's done front sprox mod !

I've got 2000 miles on my bike now and have just fitted the Sita 40 tooth rear sprocket (thanks Mr C for the heads up). As my chain is pretty new it would only just fit with the chain adjustment at its slackest point. It felt much better at 80 mph in 6th gear. Off to Ireland for a week and should do...

Re: Fork Seals - a thought

I think my fork seals might have a terminal weep though.....but I wiped them clean this morning and they have a slight ring after the 500km day run back to home base......I'll keep an eye on them over our Easter break, but I have that sinking feeling that I was too late spotting the unprotected tub...

Re: Sat-Nav.

I've used the KTM bracket with my Garmin Montana mount and it fits great behind the screen, I reckon it's a bit easier to see if it's higher up than on the bar

Re: Desperately wanting a GT but.........

Minus 24, argh no way. I'll settle for grey damp tropical England at the moment. Many thanks for the extra pictures and the constructive comments. I've ordered a set of MFW Vario pegs to try them before I go the full blown rear set route. Though there maybe another option. An engineer friend is goin...

Re: Desperately wanting a GT but.........

Hi JDS, I realise that rear sets are higher and further back, further back would help but higher is a negative with being tall. I'd considered the Attackbrear sets as they have lots of adjustability so would have tried the lowest possible setting, but again that risks it not being right. However the...

Re: Desperately wanting a GT but.........

Hi Dave, good suggestion re the boots but I've tried 2 different pairs and the knee/tank interface problem still exists even with thin soled boots, higher seat and adjusting the brake and gear levers. I love the bike, it's like a scalpel after the 1190 Adventure, but curse the tank cut outs so I mus...

Re: Desperately wanting a GT but.........

I've just test riden the GT and loved it, apart from one issue. I'm 6' 2" tall which I don't think is exceptionally tall but found that whenever I was changing gear or using the back brake my legs and particularly my knees fouled the cut outs on the tank where your legs should fit, which was really...

Re: Desperately wanting a GT but.........

You will deffo need the comfort seat my ass starts to hurt after 300 on the stock seat and after a 650 mile day I felt destroyed. I've found it to be one of the most comfortable bikes for long days that I've ever owned. Either you haven't got enough padding on your arse, or you've got too much padd...
