Re: Luggage rack for GT

I never realised that the U.S. spec. bikes have different turn signals compared to E.U bikes. Are they bigger ? The Evotech stuff is pricey but it is very good quality. I think I paid £150 this time last year, it does looks like their prices have gone up. I added a 3rd mounting point for the Alumini...

Re: Luggage rack for GT

The Tail Tidy is an Evotech item, fits perfectly with the KTM luggage. R@G Racing do a version but I prefer the Evotech. Good quality stuff. The stand for the single side swing arm I made myself. The axle tube is on bearings so that the wheel spins freely for chain cleaning etc. http://www.freewebs....

Re: Luggage rack for GT

Thanks for the comments. I'm pleased with how it turned out. My wife likes it too, she prefers the round section tube over the angular OEM design which she says gets quite uncomfortable to grip after a couple of hours. I suspect KTM designed it with style in mind rather than function. The rack will ...

Luggage rack for GT

I was looking into buying the rear rack from the accessories catalogue but for some reason KTM forgot to put a grab handle on it for a passenger.
So decided to make my own.

Nice video, well edited. You see so many of these now that watching them to the end can be a strain.
Not this one though. Well done.

Re: Ordered a rear wheel socket from Racefoxx

Well, I got word that my socket finally came ashore in New York. Couple more weeks, and maybe it'll get to me. When I ordered it, I didn't realize it would be shipped by sail boat, LOL! But then again, could you sail from Europe to New York in less than four weeks? I dunno...how fast are sailing sh...

Re: Hi new KTM owner

Hi there, do you mean "what revs to people have their engine rpm warning light set at."?

I believe the 1290 GT has the ability to do clutch less upshifts at any revs, although I don't bother unless I'm changing up at around 6000 rpm as I find it a bit harsh on the gearbox at lower revs.

Re: My 2017 SDR Build

Your bike looks great. I'd leave it as it is now. It will look even better without the big plate holder hanging off the back.
I suspect you may be a serial modder though, and never happy unless your changing stuff . :D

Re: 40 T rear sprocket

The procedure you describe is correct. The tools should be in the tool kit and instructions on chain adjustment will be found in the owners manual, or on this forum I expect. Be carefull not to mark the swing arm when fitting the sprocket, it is close. A torque wrench is always a good idea if you ar...

What was grey / silver is now black. Looks a lot better now, they should have come like this from new.

I like it anyway. :D

Re: 40 T rear sprocket

As has been said fitting a 40 tooth is straight forward, just make sure the rear wheel is fully forward. http://www.freewebs.com/fredm/P1020283.JPG This alloy Sitta sprocket has done around 3500 miles now and shows hardly any wear. The 40t makes top gear much more accessible here in the U.K. I'd rec...

Re: Just back from South of France.

Hi Aussie Dave, I've not found any steel 40 t rear sprockets either. These Italian Sitta sprockets seem up to the job though. They are a tad expensive but if they last 6000 miles I'll be happy.

Re: Just back from South of France.

Hi Mick, yeah I think you will be happy with the KTM although it is very different from a Hayabusa. I put about 150 miles on the AMS KTM demo bike and still wasn't 100% sure I was doing the right thing. However, this trip we just had has convinced me I would never swap back to the Suzuki. During the...

Just back from South of France.

Hi all, thought I would share a few thoughts on the GT for those who might be interested. First off, the fuel consumption. If the onboard display can be believed this engine is amazing, 51.4 mpg. http://www.freewebs.com/fredm/P1020232.JPG Considering that on the Autoroute sections I was always aroun...
