Re: Oil Leak on New 1290

Yeah, I'm not a big fan, but the next nearest one is an hour away, and they only became a KTM dealer last year. When I got my Akra map from them it took hours. Not sure how much was them, how much equipment/KTMUSA problems. But the local dealer wouldn't even do the flash for me.

Re: Oil Leak on New 1290

Got my bike back. They said the bolts were loose. I was skeptical, but went with it. Got the bike, checked it the next day, oil. Now I have to bring it back in. And they wont order the parts without looking at it, so I can't schedule and wait, I have to drop off, which means $20 each way in uber. Ugh.

Re: Oil Leak on New 1290

Just dropped my bike off at the dealer to have the oil leak fixed on that cover behind the oil filter. Tech said he's had a few in for the same service on that cover.

Re: RAM Mount failure @160MPH.

Yeah, I have an S8+ as well. I also have both the large and small x-grips. The small was a disaster, because of the stupid Bixby button, you can't mount it in the middle, so it becomes a big sail. I had it start to come out a couple times. So I swapped for the bigger version, and it's held at legal ...

Re: KTM powerparts rear bags for 2017 SDR

Maybe a silly question, but have you seen a picture of them on the bike? I'm wondering if they just took the marketing photos from the other side? (Looks like the mounting brackets are different, which would be the main reason for a new part.) 2016: http://www.ktm-parts.com/mm5/graphics/00000001/760...

Re: Air Temperature Reading Wrong?

It's read off the sensor in the airbox, I believe, so it will be affected by engine heat, and of course it's always a bit hotter on the road (especially sunny and lots of traffic). It's probably more useful as an IAT monitor than actually knowing the current weather :) I've learned not to trust any ...

Re: 1290 Mode Control Question

Easiest way to tell is to try and maintain like 30 mph in 3rd or 4th. Medium to low RPM, and switch between sport and street. Street will smooth out the little changes you make with your right hand. Sport will feel a bit more jerky. That's the biggest difference I find between them. All out power is...

Re: de-cat and slip on or full system with cat?

Well, the Akra is the best bang, but not for your buck :D It's pricey, but it's awesome. Powerwise, I'd think a cheaper decat pipe and can give you near the same gains, but the Akra is light as hell. You'd have to get some titanium headers, pipe, and can to get the full benefits, then you're probabl...

Re: Flapper valve removal

I have a '16, so I don't know if this will work on the Duke, but on my R6, I was able to just remove the cables, but leave the servo motor there (under the seat in this case). Is the motor attached to the frame or the exhaust?

Re: 1290 Power Commander V Custom maps

Ah, I see your post now. Was definitely running leaner than the AF tables for me, especially in the rear cylinder. I grabbed a quick log, but I'll have to look at it tomorrow. So does that map have ignition tables? I don't have an ignition module. I'm in Miami, so high humidity and sea level, but ma...

Re: 1290 Power Commander V Custom maps

Just looking at the map, it seems to have a lot less fuel. Just loaded it to my PCV in map pos. 2 and about to go do a ride comparing back to back. One thing I noticed though, the map notes do not say Evo map loaded from KTM on it, like the post here does.

Oo, #17 is my exact setup, except I have 1 2016. What kind of fuel in Singapore?

Gonna give it a try. I've been tweaking #6 up until now.

I installed some aftermarket ones from MotoHooligan on my '16. It was unridable in my Aplinestars riding shoes. Found myself riding in my puma sneakers a lot. Since I bought these I always ride in my riding shoes: http://www.motohooliganperformance.com/store/index.php?route=product/product&path=36&p...

Re: 2015 1290 SDR vs 2016 1290 SDR

Pretty sure you're right. There was a popular review that mentioned cornering ABS. That combined with the GT being released with Euro 4 (and C-ABS?) led to a lot of confusion I think. From what I understand the '16 did have upgraded systems. Not sure if just configuration, or actually new hardware, ...

Re: Does using the wet mode improve range?

Technically, I don't think so. But practically, it may. Aside from the TC sensitivity, the only thing it affects is the throttle response, from what I understand. Fueling itself isn't affected. So just cruising along at a constant speed, it's not going to make a difference. It could save you mileage...

Re: Oil Leak on New 1290

I just walked out after not riding for a while and saw a small puddle on the floor of oil. Bike is a mess so it's hard to tell exactly where it's coming from, so I'm going to clean and keep an eye on it, but I think it's the same location. Also a 2016.

Re: Horn has stopped working.

Mine stopped working, looked down and the wire had just become disconnected (I think it was my fault while working on something else). Worth a quick check. If it's intermittent, it's probably not that. I have hear of others having issues that required a new button pod though. This would be more like...

The cat was a bitch to get off. You need to load the bike for the cat to clear under the swingarm.

Re: Akra Map with No Akra.

I ran with the stock exhaust and Akra Map on a '16 bike for about a week. Down low it seemed like it ran rich, but was actually smoother, no noticeable change it output. Mid seemed the same. Never ran it in high RPM, since I heard the Akra map was a bit lean up there. Of course this was the '16, so ...
