Re: Oil Leak on New 1290

I just walked out after not riding for a while and saw a small puddle on the floor of oil. Bike is a mess so it's hard to tell exactly where it's coming from, so I'm going to clean and keep an eye on it, but I think it's the same location. Also a 2016.

Re: Horn has stopped working.

Mine stopped working, looked down and the wire had just become disconnected (I think it was my fault while working on something else). Worth a quick check. If it's intermittent, it's probably not that. I have hear of others having issues that required a new button pod though. This would be more like...

The cat was a bitch to get off. You need to load the bike for the cat to clear under the swingarm.

Re: Akra Map with No Akra.

I ran with the stock exhaust and Akra Map on a '16 bike for about a week. Down low it seemed like it ran rich, but was actually smoother, no noticeable change it output. Mid seemed the same. Never ran it in high RPM, since I heard the Akra map was a bit lean up there. Of course this was the '16, so ...

Re: Hold on 2017 SDR release?

From what I understand though, those are more of "we came out with a better version of the software, you can upgrade at a cost" more so than KTM's approach of "your bike has a quickshifter that could work right now, but you have to pay us for it to work". The former I understand,...

Really? I never hard about that. So they have bikes with equipment on them that can't be used unless you buy the right?

Re: Hold on 2017 SDR release?

It's pretty sad that KTM is able to get away with making these things that ARE ON THE BIKES WHEN YOU BUY THEM additional costs, plus the labor. At least Labor should be included with the packs. I don't know of any other bike that requires you to buy "unlock codes" to use features.

Re: Hold on 2017 SDR release?

$280 for the Akra install doesn't sound crazy, but I'm not entirely sure, I did the install myself. I know the new one requires more work with the valve/servo removal. I'd guess a couple hours of labor. If it's just the Flash and two packs should not be that much. I got charged about $50 for just th...

Re: 2017 Keyless issue

No problems here in Holland with the key, only thing I left the key already two times in my buddy seat lock when I was driving.Forgot to take it out and the bike starts normal when it in there. Yeah, I can see that happening a bit. They probably should have had some kind of sensor in the seat lock t...

Re: Question on PC5, Rott intake and Dongles

Yes. You will need to dongle to keep your TC/ABS settings. Your drive mode should be saved. If it isn't, go to KTM and get the most recent dash software version. I have similar mods, but I still need to turn off TC everytime I turn on the bike (though admittedly, I don't unless I plan on doing wheel...

Re: Hold on 2017 SDR release?

Nice!

But it's almost like KTM was watching this forum, and saw Fry went whole-hog with all the parts after ordering his bike, and said "let's fuck with that guy" for some reason.

Don't worry man, your bike will come eventually, and it will all be worth it.

According to the owner's manual (page 194). "Nut, rear hub shock absorber carrier, M10x1.25, 45Nm (33.2 lb-ft), Use Loctite 243".

If that's the ones you're referring to.

Re: How to calibrate fuel range after update ?

I find after a manual reset of Trip 1 or 2, it takes 6.2 miles, or 10km, to give me a range estimate. Speed doesn't seem to make a difference. Not sure if a software update requires more though. This is on a 2016, with what I believe is the latest software.

Re: Akra Map on a 2017

All the documentation I've seen does say for off road use only, including the PP catalog, which says "Closed course competition use only" with the little flag. Don't think it has an effect on the warranty though. By the way, while looking for the PP catalog, it seems KTM has updated their ...

Re: Free Akra Can and Full Akra System

I believe the slip on is a different type of fitting than the full system. The full system is a slip fit with springs, the slip-on is like one of those clamp fits or something. Don't think they are interchangeable. I believe most decats made for this bike are designed to replace the stock cat, and s...

Re: Kev2 2017 1290 mod list

Well, one thing that could be different is the frequencies, since KTM has to go by local (usually by country, but the EU is probably unified) radio guidelines (FEC in the US), so there could be some faulty programming for a certain region in regards to frequencies?

Just a thought.

Does the bike only come with one normal battery operated radio key, and the one that is a passive backup only? Or are both keys battery powered?

OBD2 adapter for 1290?

Does anyone know if there is a way to plug in a standard OBD2 reader (bluetooth in this case) to the 1290, in order to use the Torque app, or something similar?

Would the TuneECU cable work for that purpose, even though TuneECU isn't compatible with the 1290? Is there another option?
