Re: Gas tank pressurised

"I still have the torque limiter screech every now and then when I try to start it and sometimes it won't turn over when I press the starter " Following on from AllanP , my starter shrieks occasionally - more so when hot - and is booked in to be checked out. Is this a normal/common phenome...

Re: Hard Suspension

Hi Flingit, Check out my posts elsewhere on the forum - I went from the 1190 as well and suffered to the point of considering trading it for a 1290 s. Couldn't justify the loss so have stuck with the GT. Like a few others have said, it does noticeably soften up after a few miles, would could be a wo...

Re: Puig windscreens for SuperDuke GT in US?

Fitted Puig screen over 1000 miles ago - vast improvement and looks like standard fit. Recommended, pity KTM didn't design one like it as standard, would have saved £100!

Re: New Superduke GT owner experiences.

I should add the Adventure S rode smoothly and comfortably. I stayed in the seat the whole time, something that doesn't happen on the GT!

Re: New Superduke GT owner experiences.

Good afternoon all! I see a lot of the same old problems still coming up on the ride/handling issues. Should we really be looking at carbon fibre wheels, different tyres etc on a premium priced bike like the GT?? I took an Adventure S out for a long test ride (100 miles plus) on the same roads that ...

Re: New Superduke GT owner experiences.

@OldGot60 thanks for the update and great to no the screen works, I'm going to order one just to use for my trips alway, being such a big screen does it vibrate much ! Hi MrC, I haven't done a lot of miles but at mid height setting I didn't notice any vibes - the screen looks and feels a quality pi...

Re: New Superduke GT owner experiences.

Quick update - have fitted new screen from Puig, not cheap but works well. No significant wind blast or buffet up to 130 mph (private road of course).
Riding permanently in 'Sport' but trying 1290s when demo bike arrives at dealer next month......

Re: New Superduke GT owner experiences.

[quote="DucBMW"][quote="OldGit60"]Quick update. "Interesting... as this was the only explanation that I was NOT given. " Once again Albert, thanks for updating me, it would seem that someone within KTM is not telling me the whole story! When I get on my bike the extra s...

Thanks for that Mr C - fills me full of optimism!

Re: New Superduke GT owner experiences.

Quick update. Albert, apparently your issue was a headstock problem. It would appear that the bike is designed for riders of 85 kg upwards and no cure for my problem is forthcoming. As a matter of interest, you cannot call KTM head office as they won't give out the number! If anyone wants to know ho...

Re: New Superduke GT owner experiences.

DucBMW, With your permission I'll reference your reply, they have in fairness offered to check the bike over and it might be the case that mine was put together wrong as well. I have no problem with you pointing your dealer at my experiences, but it might be more effective to just direct them to th...

Re: New Superduke GT owner experiences.

JDS1290Dr, When it comes to handling, my 1190 Adventure was far nicer, smoother, more compliant and could take pretty much anything in it's stride. It turned in just fine and held it's line which, to my mind at least, is what handling is all about rather that ultimate grip and roadholding. Thanks g...

Re: New Superduke GT owner experiences.

DucBMW, Thanks for that reply, it seems we have experienced some similar problems, which is interesting as KTM inferred I was the only person that was having issues. They have suggested that should ride in sport mode- allowing more responsive turn in as forks are allowed to dive. Rather defeats the ...

Re: New Superduke GT owner experiences.

Quick update. Following a visit to the dealer for the bikes first service, it appears that KTM are looking into softer spring rates for lighter riders, they are aware of front forks being over hard and harsh. I must admit I thought the whole point of semi-active suspension is to find the best compro...

Re: New Superduke GT owner experiences.

Thanks Eddie, Maybe I have been spoilt on the 1190 Adventure, which just took everything in it's stride, and need to let the GT bed in a bit plus try playing around with settings. Buffet isn't a problem, just the wind blast forces the helmet into my forehead - gives me a stonking headache. Maybe I n...

Re: New Superduke GT owner experiences.

Thanks for that, will try sport settings and get the sag tweaked at first service. I've only ridden two up on one occasion and the bike did seem better - although a very nervous pillion so not really pushed. Think I need to play with the screen, I'm 5' 8" and have screen on highest setting. Wil...

Re: How does your 1190 start?

1190 Adventure starting problems when cold are cured by fitting the 1290 starter. Dealers will do it FOC if you lean on them!

Re: New Superduke GT owner experiences.

Hi Guys, First post on this site. I have 1290 gt and would like to hear other owner/riders opinions on a couple of issues I have. First off, wind blast. After half hour or so riding I getting headaches from the wind blast - as I'm still running in I'm not going much over 100 mph, slower than I used ...
