Re: DYNO RUN and Good Results

I've just read here: http://www.ktmsmt.com/viewtopic.php?t=3821 that by removing the o2 sensors the cat could catch fire from the unburned fuel.. so I'm not so sure about removing the o2 sensors if I want to keep my cat as a new cat is quite expensive. What do you think? How many kms/miles have you...

Re: Rear Shock damage

Id say poor paint job, or a stone got caught in there. A light sand, and a touch up with some white enamel paint, or leave it to the dealer.

Re: Removing and replacing the rear wheel spindle nut ?

I brought a 60mm socket, i already had an impact driver (al cheepo) to remove the nut, and i brought a 2 foot torque wrench, its not that hard to torque the nut up, i do it myself. i brought the tools for my multistrada (55mm nut). I lay over the bike rear seat, body weight on the seat (stumach), le...

Re: Hard Suspension

I totalled my sdr and was considering upgrading to the gt specifically for the electronic suspension but I think i'll stick to the 'R' after all. like the bike room. If you do any 2up riding , or carry luggage Steve, the electronic suspension is worth while. Sport mode, with rider only, is close to...

Re: Hard Suspension

Hey DaveNZ - go and see your dealer mechanic again. My TPMS gives me my hot tyre pressures while riding but I had the "Warning" switched off......as this was all they could figure out instead of changing the warning trigger values to say 30f and 32r.......anyway, no low pressure nanny war...

Re: Hard Suspension

I got the bike shop to turn off the tire pressure warning, now i don't get any tire pressure readings at all. I've fitted M7RRs, and last weekend i did over 500Ks of back roads, damp cold shaded corners, before leaving i set the front to 32 and the rear to 34, and i managed to get some good heat int...

Mine came with a tinted screen, and I'm more than happy with the standard (tinted) screen.

Re: Hard Suspension

The roads where I live are really bumpy, convinced that 3k+ of thrashing the bike around them has helped. If running on mosty good(ish) roads my guess is more time/miles will be required to loosen up. Comfort setting a waste of time from day one as the bike just seems to pitch and yaw. Feels weird....

Its interesting that you find it hard. my first 50 or so Ks i thought the suspension had a harsh edge to it, but after a 1000Ks or so it really beds in and softens, for me now its a little too soft in the rear, but i can live with it. i find the rear needs more rebound dampning.

Re: Hard Suspension

Is the bike a GT, or an R, the GTs suspension gets softer with lots of milage, The R just needs a little adjusting.

Re: A bit of a review

Cheers Dave! I actually forgot to mention in my write up that I'm also using the luggage mode when riding with just myself on the bike. I find with the luggage mode, it reduces the rider sag from 45mm to 37mm, much closer to a more sports orientated sag (35mm ideal for me) but the down side is, it ...

Re: A bit of a review

Good read, thanx for taking the time. not much i can disagree with. my only grip with the bike is the suspension, i prefer a more sports direct suspension setting. so 2 things id love to change on mine. i ride in street mode, or sports mode with luggage setting, reason-is to get the rear higher with...

Re: Crash Protection

DaveNZ, You said you fitted the TRex frame sliders. 2 questions: are they the ones sold for the SD? I didn't see any listed for the SDGT. Also, I'm thinking of getting the whole bundle from TRex (frame sliders, engine covers, axle sliders, bar ends) did you fit anything else from them? Thx I only b...

Re: some experience about OIL on GT

Ok Dave Thanks for reply - I changed my oil/filter and cleaned screens (first service - did it myself) at 600 miles and put in Motorex 10w60 full synth Went on 1, 400 mile trip and she seemed to use some oil. So I just went on a little 60 mile sprint and drained oil while good at hot and am putting...

They make some great stuff for the KTMs Rottweiler do, i fitted their stage 2 Kit, and the O2 sensor removal plugs, both made a great improvement to the running of the GT.

Re: some experience about OIL on GT

^^ Bike up level Steve, you would find thats the way on most makes of bikes. My Multi on the stand, shows no oil in the sight glass, upright its near the top. I noticed at first service the bike shop put 10-40 in the GT, I've reached 7500Ks so have now done an oil change, i went to buy motul 10-50, ...

Re: Who's done front sprox mod !

Some great info in this thread. I went 2 teeth larger on my 990SD and appreciated the difference and I think I'll be going for a 39 or 40 on the SD-GT. I'd be interested to know much do the different sprockets change the length of the wheel base? I put a 40 tooth on Allan, id say it shortened the w...

Little spray can of wax-oil under the seat (charcoal canister removed) i spray visible chain, role bike forward-spray-role forward-spray etc etc. it works on trips, i use a wax spay on trips, so every 1000Ks or so. then when i get home i clean that wax crap off, and stick to a fine oil every ride.(l...
