Re: New bike damaged cam lobe!

Thanks Dave. I am glad they found it during it's first service and it didn't cause a massive failure out on a trail somewhere or on the side of the highway. It's been perfect riding weather where j live the past month as well so that just compounds my desire to ride!! I appreciate your input. Total...

Re: New bike damaged cam lobe!

So a little update, just talked to the dealership and they said an oil line was plugged and that's what caused all the damage to the cam, follower, and cam chain tensioner, so they gotta get those parts in now... So, with all of that said, it's going to be in their shop over a month and multiple di...

Re: 1290 gt mods so far

😂😂😂 Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha. Been riding my 790 heaps lately so decided to take the 1290 out yesterday. Power to corrupt, but man the first tight corner i threw it into, it felt like a tank in comparison to the 790. Gotta say the 790 is amazing fun, and a perfect stable mate for the tank, opps i mean 1290 :...

Re: New bike damaged cam lobe!

Thanks for helping put my mind at ease everyone. I absolutely love my bike, and I'm more frustrated about not being able to ride, more than anything. Also, should I change my oil at half interval myself and then take it in for the "recommend" service interval? I want to make sure I keep the bike wi...

Re: New bike damaged cam lobe!

Once the cams are replaced the bike will be fine, the 1290 engine over all is very robust, its built very strong, and its in a few of the KTM range, and proving very reliable. Once you get it back just ride it, if anything is likely to happen it will be in the warrantee period.

Re: KTM provide free suspension upgrade

Had mine done at the dealers yesterday, went for a 40mile run trying all modes after update and to be honest If you hadn’t told me it was done I couldn’t really feel any difference? I believe it learns as you drive so possibly needs more miles to notice. I thought my suspension was good before the ...

Re: KTM provide free suspension upgrade

Im going to get mine done as I've always had a niggling problem with the 2016 models lack of rebound dampning, and all the feed back coming from the 2019 model is its a large improvement over the 16. The lowest mode, forgotten what its called now, is near useless to ride, the bike was like a pogo st...

Re: Dash blanked out after stall and restart

It looks just about right. I assume it doesn't ahve all these teething problems the 1290's have. I just fitted an IXIl IXRACE pipe, it sounds mean and looks quite cool, i can't wait till the weekend to sound it out. Did 2 track days on it so far, its amazinly fast, but forgiving and easy to ride.

Re: Dash blanked out after stall and restart

Im 6ft, and fit the bike easily, good leg room, and a nice slight lean to the wide bars, suspension is very good, soft initial travel, but firm enough for sports riding. I absolutely love my 790, out of the 18-20 odd bikes I've had, this one is probably my most fun bike. just enough power at 105, bu...

Re: Paired devices forgotten at each start

Hi everyone, just replaced my RSV4F and 1290S with a '19 GT (one bike for everything i hope) and the same problem. My dealer says KTM UK are aware of it and apparently working on a fix (coding error i guess) but i've got to say it's not convincing to bring a model to market with an error that defin...

Re: Back seat stuck down?

I did my SAS removal and all the other bits and pieces associated with the canister removal and O2 sensor removal kit about 2 years back Paul, so I've forgotten most of what i did, but i did use some of the original piping to run and extra over flow drain from the tank, and to also extend the balanc...

Re: Back seat stuck down?

Ha Ha, i did the same thing, and disconnected the seat the same way, i think from memory i put extra washers in place where the canister was removed and that stopped the seat from jamming
