Re: 990 Power Commander 5 & Tune ECU custom maps

Hi all, I didn't get much response when I submitted the post below last summer. I since made one more map which I have been using now for a couple of months without any issues. I have removed the logging equipment and mounted the lambda gauge on the handle bar. Lambda mostly stays around 14,2 when ...

Elvis, you may be right. Different bike, different brand, 25000km, same story. Disintegrated on touching.

Is this a center stand for SMT?

Hi, question for the more knowlegeable. How to tell if the center stand is for SMT? I have a few pictures from the seller but he does not know anything about it.
There is a powerparts number for a skid plate that is meant for SMT but that's the only clue I've got...
Can you help out, please? Cheers!

Re: 990 Power Commander 5 & Tune ECU custom maps

It's checked and edited. First you want the ignition off, connect everything together, only then run TuneECU and turn the ignition on.

Re: 990 Power Commander 5 & Tune ECU custom maps

Mods as prescribed by Dr Kev: Akra with Y pipe and baffles, no SAS, no 2nd flies, no O2, Motohooligan airbox, short/std stack. AFR unknown, working on a way to check it. Would messing with F/L point influence the AFR? If so, mainly during little load and it would run richer... would that be a proble...

Re: 990 Power Commander 5 & Tune ECU custom maps

To all: I tried something with TuneEcu which actually works to reduce the snatchyness (for me et least) With the current MAP I use (kev Map # 20, + 2%, +Ignition maps from PowerTripp), I set the FL switch "on": thus at low RPMs, it will be using the L-maps based on the manifold pressures. Result: >...

Re: 990 Power Commander 5 & Tune ECU custom maps

Turn the ignition off. Plug the cable in the bike and computer. Good to have Internet connection, it may need a driver. Open software. Turn the ignition on. Wait until green rectangle flashes in the bottom right corner of the software screen. If it's red or amber - driver is fekked, you need to figh...

Re: SMT to GS?

It is the character, trust me. Numbers say nothing in this case. Old GS can be ridden fast but it just doesn't love it, you will automatically slow down soon (the new LC one at least does not complain, it follows). SMT on the other hand can be ridden peacefully but it wants to go faster, keeps askin...

Re: Akrapovic wanted for SMT please!

Why don't you use db-killers?
Akra without them is loud as f@k anyway, I can't ride like that for long.
Interestingly, I had a single exhaust on Aprilia v-twin 1000 and it was spot on noise-wise.

ABS - rear off / front on - possible?

I read al the threads and haven't found anything about this. I know one can instal a switch on the sensor cable that would send the whole ABS into fault mode - essentially disabling it. But is there a way of disabling rear ABS and leaving the front on? This is my first ABS bike as I have always been...

Re: SMT to GS?

Have a look in my intro post here: http://www.ktmsmt.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=8602 GS (LC) was actually close in feel to SMT (which came as a surprise, I was expecting something more like a workhorse, like the old air cooled ones were). I was test-riding them not owning the SMT yet, so not yet biased...

Re: 990 Power Commander 5 & Tune ECU custom maps

Had two hours to play with maps etc. and I have some interesting findings to report. My mods: Akra with Y pipe and baffles, no SAS, no secondary flies, no O2 sensors, Motohooligan airbox, short/std stack, no EPC. When bolted it all together I downloaded Kev's #20 map and I had a few reservations: 1....
