Re: Stator Cover Oil leak

Pretty sure it's coming from the area around the stator wires. Gonna dump the oil and pull the cover and have a look. Luckily it's not a bad leak and I can still ride around while on my vacation before I have to do that.

Re: Stator Cover Oil leak

Theres was a little bit of oil around the breather tube, which is one of the areas that seemed to be collecting oil as well. https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/457x610q90/922/lBldqO.jpg I checked the breather tube, only thing that came out was what appeared to be white assembly grease, and there wasn...

Re: Stator Cover Oil leak

Here is another picture after my ride today. There seems to be oil splatter all around the left case. It is covering some of the wires as well that run inside the frame up towards the throttle bodies. I don't think it is a countershaft seal leak.. https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/806x604q90/923/qwz...

Re: Stator Cover Oil leak

Doesn't look like much in the picture, but if I wipe it clean it takes a few rides to collect there again. Could it be collecting there from somewhere else. Having some issues tracing the source...

Stator Cover Oil leak

So it seems I have a small leak near wear the stator wires come out of the top side of the engine cover. At least that is where I believe it to be coming from. There is excess oil around the wires and the it will eventually run down the cover and drip underneath. Does that seem feasible? I did some ...

Re: Acerbis dual road handguards

I'm looking at replacing soft stock ones as well... as I broke my brake leaver after the bike tilted over in the parking lot this summer. Will get these in a couple of weeks and post an update: http://www.twistedthrottle.com/barkbusters-vps-lever-wind-protection-handguards-for-motorcycles-with-tape...

I've had the tri-fit handguards on my dirt bike, they were pretty good. I think the dual road ones look better for the SMT.

I get what you're saying about vibration

Acerbis dual road handguards

Anybody fit these to their 990? They look good just curious if anyone has real world experience because as usual they're not cheap.

Re: coolant overflow

I recently had a small puddle of coolant leaking. It was in a strange place, not under the actual radiator but further back, almost beneath the engine drain plug. Either way, changed the radiator cap and tightened some of the hose connections to be safe. No new leaks so go figure.

Re: New Guy

Question...

Is there a rule of thumb for air filter cleanings? I've got the rotweiller setup and just cleaned and re-oiled it recently. It's been about 2000 miles since I've had the bike. Just wondering when everyone is doing them?

Re: Northern California/Bay Area?

East of Reno, but I like to ride in Northern California because it's MUUUCCCHH better. I'd be interested in a weekend gig. Quick before it gets cold!

Well that's good cuz my other bike is a dirt bike lol. I like the narrower feel through the tank and it feels pretty nimble. Almost 1000 miles in just a few weeks..

New Guy

Just picked this up a few weeks ago. PO did a lot of the things I would have done right off the bat, exhaust, air filter, SAS delete, aftermarket seat. Only 4700 miles. So far so good.
