Re: Drop in oil pressure during high speed running.

I’ve done the scrambler. Absolute hoot of a bike but only as a second bike. As a main bike it can be really uncomfortable on long rides. It’s more of a city bike, even in its desert sled guise.

Just don’t get a Ducati then... you’ll have even more issues [emoji23]

Re: Drop in oil pressure during high speed running.

Good on you both for going hard :). When I came on this site, I noticed a lot of SMT riders with that "fuely" app screenshot in their signature block and many talked about fuel economy and touring on the bikes. That sort of set the bad stereotype. Perhaps they have moved on to BMWs or Goldwings now...

Re: Drop in oil pressure during high speed running.

BTW, I agree with jhalfhide that the SMT can be just as spirited a ride as the Superdukes. I own both an SMT and an SDR and the SMT can definitely be ridden just as fast or faster in some situations. Love them both. Yeah I agree. Nothing wrong with the SM frame, but the SD site seems (seemed ?) to ...

Re: Would you change an SMT for a 1090 Adventure

Thank you, very good points and need to consider again on spring. Possible motor failure by Ducati pricing would be a disaster? At the same time the Ducati sales price on spring will bring nice profit. Let’s see how nice red colour and gold Öhlins look like on spring sun :D If you like the Ducati r...

Creeps do usually end up raping/killing their prey so I think the cop is right to step on it now [emoji23]

Re: Power adaptor for Quick charge?

Holy thread revival Batman... Posting for anyone that wants the same... My new quick charger. Thought it best to simply replace the ciggie adapter with a USB QuickCharge with Voltmeter. I've rigged it to come on with ignition and will serve to warn me if my reg/rec goes AWOL and starts to over volta...

Re: Would you change an SMT for a 1090 Adventure

My first fault was a snapped cam in the engine. This was repaired by the supplying dealer under warranty as it only happened a month after buying it. That wasn’t a usual one though and I’m the only instance I am aware of. Between then, I had the usual pre twin spark issues. There was a VERY importan...

Would you change an SMT for a 1090 Adventure

Loved my Faultistrada... only issue was the reliability. I had an early one and things did improve down the line. What year is yours as the issues reside in the pre twin spark models. Back on a KTM 990 SMT now and as you say, more nimble and fun but not as versatile because the smaller tank and less...

UK 950/990 Meet-up scheduled

Not sure if anyone has seen this on Facebook, but the KTM 990 SMT facebook group is quite a large group and they have arranged a meeting for the 30th of September in the hopes of getting a large gathering of 950/990 SM, SMT & SMR folks together. It's 1100 at H-Cafe in Berinsfield, near Oxford. Linky...

Interesting. Will have to check with KTM when that part was changed. Maybe it wasn’t until the 1090/1190 [emoji848]

Re: Drop in oil pressure during high speed running.

How’s the rest of it looking? At least you know that’s problem solved for good now. These engines are proper 6 figure mileage monsters of treated right. Won’t be swapping mine for anything for a few years gets and may even keep an eye out for a donor motor and keep it beyond that. Sent from my iPhon...

Re: Drop in oil pressure during high speed running.

I’d show them that snapped gear. They may change their tune as that looks like it must have been a defect from manufacturer. No way should that snap like that.

Re: Drop in oil pressure during high speed running.

Sorry to hear this Elvis. Makes me wonder if I should continue on with my SMT :( First person we’ve heard of with this issue. Properly weird one but I wouldn’t panic yet. Does sound like it should be a better clip. The clip they’ve used will hold 99% of the time, it’s just better to use a stronger ...

I’d replace with one of these. No chance of it coming off at all.
