Re: Rear-Hugger-Extension

Ive got one too. I bonded mine using the glue they sell and its stuck fast. It also looks far neater than having a line of rivets. I got one for the front too. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4708/27989313319_da654290fb_z.jpg rear hug 1 by Andy Jeffrey , on Flickr https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4620/...

Re: 2018 gt new spec

When i was at the NEC show the other week KTM confirmed the only change to the 18 GT was paint and the 2 18 bikes they had on display had the 17 style light.
I guess we will only know for sure when the 18s hit the showroom!

Re: 2018 gt new spec

Funnily enough ive just chopped my SMT in for a GT due to the deal they had on! Talking to the KTM guys at the NEC show they confirmed that it was only a colour change for 2018 and the ones in the 18 colours at the show looked the same as the 17 in all other respects. But as you say, on the configur...

Re: Changing the airbox

Will do. Decided against the airbox in the end! Im still not sure if im keeping the bike beyond next year as i have a real yearning for a 1290 Super Adventure S! Im hoping that getting it mapped will defer my buying a while.

Re: Changing the airbox

How long did the remap take? Can you just wait while its being done? Its about 70 miles ride so i dont really want to have to drop it off then have to go and collect it! Plus im guessing a couple of hours to swap the airbox over.

Re: Changing the airbox

I did think it would run lean but wanted to check. The place in Italy on Ebay is doing the St3 airbox for the equivilent of £450 plus £7 postage so quite a saving and being Ebay theres some comeback if theres a problem. I will use my credit card anyway so again if theres a problem there some comebac...

Re: Changing the airbox

Thanks for that info. It has cans on it, no branding on them but definately aftermarket with removable baffles. Ive removed the sas gubbins and am awaiting a tune ecu cable to switch off the O2 sensors. Im going to be calling BSD in the next day or two to see what they have to say and get it booked ...

Changing the airbox

Ive decided to go and remove the airbox and fit something different. Now there a loads of different options on the market, DNA, ITG, Rottweiller, Moto hooligan. So what is everyone using? Ive heard good reports from all of them but the DNA does seem to stand out. However, its also the most expensive...

Re: Is it just me or?

I guess it depends how hard you ride. If im plodding along its a lovely neutral bike but as with any bike if you start to press on and ride harder then more input is needed. I ride a lot of B roads that are quite tight and very uneven and if you ride hard then changes of direction need more counter ...

Re: Is it just me or?

Had a quick blast on mine today, did 60 miles on a mix of A,B and unclassified roads. Had another unexpected toe down moment in a quick corner! No chicken strips on my T30Evo! You do have to bully it when hustling along but wide bars make it a breeze. For me having a bike move around under you and g...

Re: Is it just me or?

My previous bike was a BMW S1000RR so i dropped about 60-70 hp coming to the SMT but i found the 990 engine lovely on the road. Of course theres not the top end rush of the BMW but ive never found it lacking in power. I set the suspension up as per KTM recommended setting and handles just fine. It d...

Those rim decals are a KTM accessory so any KTM dealer can supply them.

Re: Stating

I think hes just holding the bar to press the starter with his thumb, no throttle applied.
But...... why would you feel the need to upload a video to Youtube of starting a bike? Just why!!!

Re: Stating

Just hit the button, no throttle. Even if its not been started for a while it only needs a second or two before it fires.

Re: Hello all - new SMT, can't stop grinning

I was in My KTM dealer last week (Jim Aim M/C) chatting with one of the workshop guys about how snatchy the throttle is on the SMT. He recommended fitting an RC8 throttle assembly as it has a less harsh initial ramp. He said he fitted one to his SMT. And its only £20! Im seriously considering fittin...
