Re: Tire and sprocket replacements

Metzeler Roadtec 01 is very good tire, front and back. Feel and grip is exceptional and works also in cold and wet.

Re: Catastrophic front brake failure

My brakes were pulsing ar 20k last summer. Tried all the tricks with rotating buttons etc. Discs were worn a bit more in the center, but free movement in buttons enabled disc move a bit and then the groove in disc forms oval when rotating. This will pulse what ever you do. New EBC discs from ebay, a...

Re: ITG intake noise

Difficult to believe that spray quality has any effect. Maybe Rottweiler has better sound due to nicer color. More power = Noice.

It sounds weird at the beginning but after a while it is actually quite cool and you want to hear it often.

Re: 990 Power Commander 5 & Tune ECU custom maps

Tested the bike in free dyno yesterday, it gave 115 hp from back wheel. I think it is pretty decent with stock pipes. Some where also saying that this specific dyno gave couple of hp's less than others. Going to get full graph later.

Re: Weak start-up

Battery was tested in shop, it was ok, but the charging was weak at the idle. In city it is at idle a lot.

#14 worked for me as stock set-up. Without secondaries, the #13 looks better.

That "smoothened map" works much better with stock set-up, without part mods.

Re: 990 Power Commander 5 & Tune ECU custom maps

I've map 20 with reduced idle and got some battery problems. Has anyone else noticed that low idle reduces charger efficiency? Seem to charge ok with some throttle.

Weak start-up

Start-up on cold days was not good on spring, and then the battery died once. Changed new battery, but still not cranking up too well. Today measured the voltage, and during the start-up, voltage dropped till 8 V. Which are the alternatives, is the new battery bad, or is it something else? When runn...

That is well possible that it wouldn't work due to elastic cush as you said.

Re: How do you change the Cush?

Great! Definitely better than drilling. I got a packet yesterday from China with multiple piece bearing puller, that is going to be used for sprocket carrier bearing. I bet it would had worked for the cush, too. It is good for the 8-35mm inner holes and for all KTM smt owners-from ebay, 65e. Same pr...

Re: Suspension service

The service improved the rear shock: carries the load and weight shifts better, and small bump sensitivity is better. When Nitrogen pressure leaks away, there will be air bubbles in oil, and damping is lost.

Re: Cheap air box that works

I have map 20# and other tricks with rottweiler but std exhaust. At 3k there is that hollow burbble, but the idle is normal. With std exhaust the intake sound at the city is enormous at full throttle. From noice point of view no aftermarket exhaust is needed.

Re: SMT to GS?

Since owning 2 superlight street triples I've been comparing the feeling just standing in the saddle with both legs in ground and shaking the bike from the bars side to side. Somehow SMT feels light by this even if it is 30kgs heavier than triumphs. Actually only Ducati hypermotard 1100 has been cle...

Re: SMT to GS?

Have to agree, that LC GS did feel like a diesel compared to SMT, not revving or wheelying too easily, and also bike felt much heavier and slower on slow speed quick turns etc.. Would be perfect for long distance driving, but did not ask city or fast small roads driving. Probably you have to get use...

Re: New guy, ride reports, rant, mods, big V twins FTW!

Check the bolts with torque wrench. I mean all the bolts. My 2010 with 22k was having even clutch bolts loose inside the cover. Also the center stand almost fell off from other side. Motor do shake them loose.
