Re: What’s it worth (UK)

I paid £6700 for mine private last year, 13 plate with 8000 miles, mine just had Leo Vince as the only extra, no luggage etc, I doubt you will get much more for all the extras on the bike but I would be interested in the front & rear carbon mudguards, sump guard, centre stand, ergo seat & crash bar...

What’s it worth (UK)

Hi guys.. So the time has come for me and my SMT to part ways. I plan on selling privately, advertising on eBay, Autotrader and Gumtree. Based on the below, can any of you give me an accurate suggestion on what price to advertise it at? (I may be willing to sell optional parts to forum members if an...

Re: Greetings from Torbay!

Hi Jimmy, I'm up the road in Cullompton but can often be found at Paignton on a Wednesday night for BMAD! I experienced all that you have mentioned and addressed them as follows. 1. Metzeler M7RR or Roadtec 01. Both absolutely brilliant tyres and suit the bike perfectly! 2. I regularly take my brake...

What settings when fully loaded?

I'm off on a trip on Friday. Plymouth > Roscoff > Pyrenees > Santander > Plymouth I have a brand new set of Metzeler Roadtec 01's on my 2012 SMT. I usually run 35psi Front / 35psi Rear I will have 2x Givi panniers and a roll bag - around 40kg loaded at a guess... What tyre pressures are recommended ...

Immobiliser Light Flashing with Right Indicator

I got caught in a torrential downpour on M56/M6 yesterday. During which I noticed that the Immobiliser light was flashing in time with RH Indicator when Indicator was activated. I pulled into services and switched engine off/on but still flashing. The immobiliser light flashes with hazard lights eng...

Re: SMT to GS?

The GS is without a doubt a very capable bike, but for me it was just... bland. The SMT is a much more engaging bike and I found I could tune into the bike a lot more than the GS would allow. The GS wants to do everything for you. My SMT has Crash bars and centre stand which add some additional weig...

I've now sold the H&B Gobi's and fitted some GIVI Trekker TRK33B with GIVI QR racks. 39" side to side!! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170330/fcf1ffb87ca64c3c5ed68d65b7a415ef.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170330/46ef8d2ef3acb4f514b04e511453b103.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170...

Re: SMT to GS?

I went out on a 2014 GS TE (LC) today. I can appreciate why they sell as well as they do. Absolutely cracking bike and I dare say that I will likely own one- one day. But it's not likely to be anytime soon... I keep falling in love with my SMT. It's just too much fun and a much more engaging ride th...

SMT to GS?

Have any of you changed, or thought about changing, your SMT for a R1200GS?

Re: Recommendations: Hard Panniers

40.5" with the 37L boxes. The handlebars are 31". I reckon the only way you'll get narrower than that is to use throw-overs. I tried to fit a pair of 15L kriegas to mine using the original frames for the zip-ups. I shelved it in the end and bought the Trax system because I ran out of time. The thro...

Re: Recommendations: Hard Panniers

QR. Three attachment points on each side which locking pins locate in. One pin on each frame is a moulded plastic knob which is lockable for security. The others are just slotted for a screwdriver or a coin. Twist and turn and they're off. There are three small brackets which the pins lock into and...

Re: Recommendations: Hard Panniers

37 litre Motech Trax tick all those boxes. Well, not sure about the handlebar bit, haven't measured them. But no handling or stability issues. Frames very easy to fit, boxes on and off the bike in seconds. Only criticisms are locks are a bit cheap (though they work) and the black finish scratches e...

Re: Recommendations: Hard Panniers

I have the Ktm hard aluminum panniers, they tick all of your boxes apart from being narrower than handlebars. I have aftermarket bars (800mm) and they are a bit wider, however never had any issue. I always leave more space while I'm loaded, I even do filtering/lane splitting. Top box is small compa...
