Re: Best bar end mirrors? And go

I did the same thing. I took off the Rhinomoto bar ends that were on my old BMW S1000R and had them machined along with the stock KTM bar ends and put on the CRG Lanesplitters that I had. One of the best mods I've done on this bike.

Re: changing front sprocket?

After a few hundred miles with the 16T setup I'm now contemplating going back to the 17T. I'm thinking it will make things a little smoother. The on/off throttle when hooking things up in the tight twisties is a bit too jerky and the gearing doesn't seem as good as it first did when I changed over. ...

You've set a pretty high bar Kev. You might have to jump to an Aprilia Tuono Factory 1100 R!

Cool and thanks for posting. That 45* method is how I've tested too. I have already figured out that some re-packing is out there in some sort of future.

Who knows? I may end up in Colorado Springs someday. Would have to deal with a comparatively short riding season but it may be worth it.

Re: Akra Evo full system, Akra map and O2 elliminators ?

In SPORT mode words like sensitive, twitchy, explosive and fun as hell come to mind. I tried setting back to STREET for about 3 miles before going back to SPORT. I'll live with the "lively" character. Not for the ham fisted and clueless/careless folk mind you.

Re: Akrapovic Full System DB levels

How did the track monitor people test the dB limits? Flyby as you went past on the track or static right off the exhaust? Some different test altogether?

Re: Akra Evo full system, Akra map and O2 elliminators ?

I can only say that the exhaust was by far the louder of the two changes. Now, in fairness, I have to say that I installed the MotoHooligan Motobox system and not the Rotweiller system. I believe that between the two it would be six of one and a half dozen of the other. The difference being that the...

Re: Akra Evo full system, Akra map and O2 elliminators ?

There is less air up there and that may be exactly why the airbox may be good for you. I do believe though that the airbox all by itself, without any PCV tuning to help, will not yield anything close to a 10hp gain. In my experience the Akra system & factory reflash was the biggest jump. My airbox w...

My guys, at sea level, say they don't think the dyno tune with the PCV will improve anything for me. I may still check out another shop on that though. At your altitude the PCV & airbox may help.

Re: Akra Evo full system, Akra map and O2 elliminators ?

For me the main improvement was just putting on the factory Akro system. I took out the evap canister system using the Rotty kit but that doesn't add HP. The airbox added very little extra gain from that point but still an extra 3-4 hp. The o2 dongles smoothed out the low end but it was nothing obje...

Yes, the actual end of the pipe/can is oval. Just inside it's round. Just curious as to why this interests you?

Re: Akra Evo full system, Akra map and O2 elliminators ?

Any perceivable difference in throttle pickup? Performance (Outside of the additional mods)? Still debating whether i should have the akra map installed and re tune from there. When the akro first went on and the map loaded, I was expecting something orgasmic. I was disappointed. Other than the nic...

Yep. I've put on the tank top sticker. Still undecided about the orange/white KTM on the top of the radiator panels and the front fender. The top tank sticker works quite nicely.

Re: Akrapovic Full System DB levels

It's about 55mm x 65mm "diameter" without the insert. Subtract about 5mm each way with the insert silencer installed. Don't let anyone fool you. Even with the "silencer" installed it's loud and nothing close to the original stock system. I have measured about a 2 dB difference with silencer in. Afte...

Re: 1290 Suspension

Thank you for that! I installed the Ohlins on the rear of my bike and while that made the improvement I was looking for it also seemed to expose the weakness in the front forks/shocks. I went through the same process with my Ducati 848. The front forks in the SD now seem to wobble a bit more now tha...

Re: 1290 Suspension

Got the Mupo K911 25mm cartridges installed yesterday. Have the 1290 shop manual so removing the old cartridges was easy. Installing the Mupos was not that hard, but some instructions were a little vague. I ended up using the online video they have instead of the written instructions for 90% of the...
