Re: faulty oil filters fitted to our 1290 dukes

I had the updated filter in there...I was going to try out the K&N but decided just to bite the bullet and go with the Scotts filter. I was skeptical about it but I talked to the guys at Rottweiler and they said it's what they all run.

Re: faulty oil filters fitted to our 1290 dukes

Update: Well I couldn't get through to KTM (15 attempts in the last two days) but my dealer finally did. Their answer was that the reason the filter collapses is because it must not have been seated correctly and it was forced on by tightening down the cover. This was most certainly not the case and...

Re: faulty oil filters fitted to our 1290 dukes

When I did my first service at 600 miles the oil filter was fine. I just did the second oil change at 7373 miles and my filter was pretty severely collapsed. I am still trying to get in touch with KTM tech support to see what they say. Either way they probably won't be convincing me that this is a "...

Re: High beam switch.

Mine also wore out and the highbeams would go off. Not that I was surprised, I remember the first time I used it thinking it wasn't going to hold up. I called KTM and asked them if they have had any issues and they said they had never heard of any problems with it...I asked if there was an updated p...

Re: Tires

I'm currently running Q3s. Overall I like them alot for spirited street riding but they have considerably less grip on the center part of the rear tire compared to the stock SS2. They are actually wearing far quicker as well due to the excessive wheelspin. Aside from this I like them better than the...

Re: Hand guards?

I had SW Motech Kobras on my bike. They have been removed for the time being because there is far too much vibration without the stock bar end weights...I'm probably going to experiment with that bar snake thing and see if that helps at some point...

Re: What did you trade?

I traded in my '09 ZX6R...I wanted an SDR for like 7 years and finally decided to pull the trigger about a year ago. I really miss the superior fit and finish and complete lack of issues with the Kawi (and the GSXR and YZF before it). When it comes to riding though, there is no comparison the SDR is...

Extended Warranty

My factory warranty is set to expire shortly. I can get an RPM One extended warranty through the dealer. I'm just wondering what everyone's feelings are on this. I've never had an extended warranty before on any bike (and never needed it) but I've had some issues already and generally don't have as ...

Re: Part price non-sense

Sounds about right...Everything for this bike is big $$$ My high beam switch wore out so I checked to see how much it would be... $225! At least this time it's under warranty.

They can be a bit of a whore to reinstall correctly. I also needed to use a flashlight to line them up properly.

Re: Front reservoir leak

I had the same issue with the stock cap. I tried many times to reseat the seal and snug down the bolts evenly...that would always work for a short while and then it would happen again. I switched to the PP metal cap and haven't had a problem since.

Re: Excessive Throttle Play

I also noticed this as well...Way too much play in the throttle. I now have the PP heated grips installed and the throttle is alot better. I also have an FE350 (KTM XCF-W basically) and can attest to the fact that adjusting the throttle play is really weird. I have the G2 throttle in that which is a...

Re: Custom MTC

The TC and wheelie control being tied together is one of the biggest oversights on this bike IMO...the bike will allow pretty decent wheelies in Sport mode as long you don't get any wheel spin at the same time...I cant speak for the other modes as I never bothered with them...As has been stated if y...

Re: changing front sprocket?

Here's my take on it: My bike is stock and I have no desire to have the gearing shorter. Ever since I got my bike I've been wondering why anyone feels the need to gear it shorter but I suspect the TC and throttle mode choices may have something to do with it. I normally ride it in Sport mode with th...

DukeNukem, I am eagerly waiting for your impressions/video of your exhaust setup. I'm pretty set on the Arrow decat midpipe. I haven't quite made up my mind what to run with it yet though.
