Cleaning Dust Boots

Anyone done this? I'd like to clean mibe before the bike goes up for the season. I looked at the manual but I can't quite tell what I am supposed to pry off. I don't want to scratch or damage the forks. A few pics would be awesome if people have them. Thanks.

Re: KTM Top Case

It does sit quite a ways back on the bike. Its more pronounced when the side bags arent mounted. This is also the larger top case they offer (48l). They make a smaller one that probably wouldnt look like it was as far back. Took my son for a ride last night with it installed. Soooo nice to be able t...

Re: KTM Top Case

So I called KTM Customer Service here in the US and left a message asking if the movement was correct. I received a voicemail back that in fact this was designed into the carrier plate. The Rep. unfortunatley did not elaborate as to WHY this was designed into the plate. I can't for the life of me un...

Re: KTM Top Case

So i finally got the Carrier Plate for the Powerparts 48L topcase. Does anyone know if the plate is supposed to slide left or right slightly after being tightened to 10nm as the instructions say? It seems odd that they would want a case moving around at 100mph or with a passenger using it as a backr...

Re: Potential buyer - seat height question

I'm also relatively short and can touch only with my heels slightly off the ground. With the GT, the height is dependent on the rider settings. When you have the suspension set for a single rider, the bike is at its lowest point. Dial in two riders with luggage and you can feel the suspension raise....

Re: KTM Top Case

Looks good Aussie Dave! I'll be honest, I kinda fought purchasing the top case, as I know this is a SPORTS Tourer, but I do a fair amount of 2-up riding with my wife and she's said on more than one occasion she thought I was going to throw her off the back! I bought it largely for her (hence why I b...

Re: KTM Top Case

So I purchased the KTM top case along with the optional passenger backrest pads. Only problem is I can't put it on the bike because for some reason the mounting bracket won't be available in the US for another month! Not exactly sure why they would make everything available except the mounting brack...

KTM Top Case

Just saw the new top case in the 2017 Powerparts catalog. Anyone out there purchase one yet? Wondering what they think of fit, style, quality, etc.

Oil Filter Part Number

I can't seem to find the part number for the oil filter. Not sure if I'm just missing it somewhere?? Can anyone please let me know what this is. Time to get the bike out of storage and want to do an oil change. Thanks.

Remus midpipe no longer available in the US?

So I was getting ready to pull the trigger on a Remus can and midpipe. I went to the Revzilla website and noticed the midpipe is no longer listed. I called Revzilla and they said Remus no longer sells this part in the US due to CARB regulations. Huh? The sales rep said I should look for European sup...

Re: Remus midpipe

Is it damaging to the engine to run the mid pipe and stock can without a remap? From what I've read there is currently no remap for the GT.

Re: MTC Failure

The exhaust servo motor was replaced and since then have not had a problem with MTC Failure warning. Crossing my fingers it lasts. I agree KTM has an issue it needs to address. If it happens again to mine ill figure a way to bypass it.

Re: MTC Failure < 450mi in...

I had the exact same scenario happen that you did. Once they replaced the exhaust valve servo motor the bike ran perfectly. Not quite sure why so many of these failed. Hoping the replacements last a lot longer!

Re: Engine Coolant Keeps Dropping

While I'm happy to hear I'm not the only one who has experienced this, I do have to say it's a bit strange. I've had four Japanese bikes and never had the coolant levels drop at all. Wonder why this is considered "normal" for KTM's

Re: Engine Coolant Keeps Dropping

Thanks for the info. I'm hoping that's all it is. This is my first KTM so I'm not 100% up to speed with all of it. So you think just let it drop until it settles then bring it to Max line?

Engine Coolant Keeps Dropping

Let me start off by saying I have a 2016 SD GT, not the R. However, because the GT is relatively new, especially here in the US, I haven't been getting many replies to my posts on the GT side when it comes to my issue. When I brought my bike in for its first service (620 miles), I noticed the coolan...

Re: Engine Coolant Level

So I brought the bike to the dealer. Long story short, they ended up draining and flushing the coolant system. They said they checked it all over for leaks and couldn't find any. They filled the reserve tank to the max line and said they took it for a ride and the level did not drop. I went for a 25...
