Re: Rear sprocket nut clearance

So basically I have 3.8 mm clearance between the inside face of the swingarm where the axle goes through and the face of the wheel's hub. I noticed something out of place in one of your photos. I am sure this has nothing to do with the clearance problem but I just thought I would mention it just the...

Re: Rear sprocket nut clearance

Sorry, I forgot to include that last measurement (wheel hub face-to axle adjuster block contact face) I get 16.1 mm Perhaps with this info you can compare with your bike and with process of elimination establish where the problem lies. There certainly is not a lot of clearance between the sprocket a...

Re: Rear sprocket nut clearance

Ghost, I have only recently acquired my SMT but I know how to use a vernier and a camera so I would like to offer my measurements to you for comparison; Reference your photos below where you measured 8.3 mm on left and 10.5 mm on right it appears that you measured the thinnest part of the swingarm w...

Re: Hello !

Thanks for the feedback and thread guys. I did see that thread in my searches, which has good info. Im taking it all in so as to make an informed decision. By the way, this forum is awesome because the thread about drilling a small hole in the bottom of the swing arms to drain water is 100% valid. I...

Re: Hello !

Yes, I see most guys are going down to shorter gearing. It all comes down to personal preference when talking about riding style on the street. For example my RC51 has super tall gearing which I enjoy on the race track and that I have grown accustomed to when riding it on the street. My XR250R On th...

Re: Hello !

Thanks for the maintenance tips ! I had nothing to do during a snow storm a couple of weeks ago, so I took the clutch plates out and inspected everything. All measurements good, including spring free length. Of course I did that before I saw the tip about checking the oil jet. Oh well, I'll do that ...

Torque value of SMT front rotor retaining bolts ?

Hi guys,
Until I can get my hands on a service manual, could someone please let me know what the torque value is for the bolts that retain the front brake rotors onto the wheel of an SMT 990 ?

Thanks in advance,

Re: Hello !

In the meantime, my first bike trip this spring will be across Eastern Ontario into Central Ontario's cottage cou...
